The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Human Resources Solutions (HRS) supports the human resources needs of the Department of Social Services, the Human Resources Administration, and the Department of Homeless Services through strategic partnership and collaboration, with the goal of creating an inclusive, motivated, and client centered workforce.
Human Resources Solutions (HRS) is requesting to hire one (1) Clerical Associate III to function as an EVU/CDU Clerical Assistant within the Employment Verification Unit/Check Disbursement Unit, who will perform the following:
- Be responsible for logging all documentation received from various sources (email, mail, fax, walk-ins) for the Employment Verification and Check Disbursement units, by entering information into database for tracking and record keeping purposes.
- Respond to telephone and/or email inquiries concerning employee verification and employees’ checks.
- Be responsible for responding to requested inquiries related to Employment verification request; in addition to responding to inquiries regarding employees checks by utilizing information from (Payroll Management System [PMS], City Human Resource Management System [CHRMS], City Time, Staff Leave roster [402e]).
- Be responsible for providing reception desk coverage throughout the workday to address staff inquiries and telephone coverage within the area of assignment (EVU/CDU), by taking messages/transferring calls/providing information/maintaining a log of incoming calls, to facilitate unit communication with associates/clients.
- Be responsible for performing a variety of clerical functions which can include maintaining a filing system for check disbursement and employment verification units.
- Be responsible for entering information onto the check refund system.
- Be responsible for data entering/ scanning documents into a computerized system.
- Support supervisor on special projects related to Employment Verification and Check Disbursement units as needed.

Hours/Schedule: 9 AM – 5 PM

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
