About Our Culture
Our mission to change behavioral health starts with us and how we operate. We don’t want to just change behavioral health, we want to change the way startups operate. Here are a few tactical examples:
1) Improving accessibility and quality of healthcare is something we live and breathe. Everyone on Camber’s team cares deeply about helping clinicians and patients.
2) We have to have a sense of humor. Healthcare is so broken, it's depressing if you don't laugh with us.

About the Role
Camber wrestles the chaos of medical insurance billing for clinics and providers.
We’re looking for our first product designer. You will lead design on our internal tools (aka Barbie.)
Billions of dollars in healthcare will be managed on products you design: from insurance billing, eligibility, bank reconciliation, project management, programmable rules engines, data analytics, and more!
Your work will lower the barrier to entrepreneurship for healthcare providers in the United States, improve quality of care, and get clinics back to what they know and love most: helping patients.
As our first product designer, your responsibilities will include- Rapidly prototyping user experiences directly with users across the company: engineering, operations, customer experience, and go-to-market.
- Establishing a consistent internal application design and component system.
- Building clear information hierarchies and opinionated workflows that power confident and correct decisions, at scale.
- Balancing long-term vision with iterative development to get there.
- Distilling the manic complexity of American healthcare into intuitive, informative, efficient, and brave interfaces.
- Differentiating between micro- and macro-friction points, drive solutions at the right level of abstraction (fix vs feature vs product.)
What we look for- A strong portfolio including process documentation, end-to-end project ownership, and taming deceptive complexity into delightful usability.
- A sense of taste, a healthy ambition, and a bit of whimsy ✨
- The passion and craft to design for a better world. The grit and meticulousness to build in the real one.
- Clear success outcomes for what you design and a high personal bar for meeting those goals. Success is defined by user impact, not effort.
What we offer- A mission-driven, collaborative, optimistic, and emojiful culture.
- Bright, driven, kind, and caring teammates who do the right thing even when it's harder.
- The freedom to add character, elegance, and flourish to what we build. We hear there’s more to life than flat expanses of neutral colors.
- Building for the latest version of Chrome… and nothing else!
- Competitive compensation, equity, benefits, and stickers.
- Cultural events: Wine and Weave (we have a lot of knitters and crafters), Hot Ones, and more!
- A wide array of free lunch!
- A place on our office interior decor committee.
Requirements- Hybrid in NYC. 3 or 4 days in our Flatiron office
- 5+ years of experience as a full-time product designer
- Experience with design systems, close user collaboration, and complex domains.
- Comfort in ambiguity. You’ll design greenfield projects before data exists and iterate on existing applications towards clear metrics.
- You prioritize our users first in everything you build. You can balance between speed, craft, and maximal impact.
- A mastery of… whichever tools you prefer
Compensation and Benefits- Compensation: $155–175k salary + stock options
- Insurance: We cover 100% of the premium for an Aetna national plan, as well as dental and vision coverage.
- Wellness: If you see a therapist who’s out of network we’ll reimburse up to $100/week. We also provide $100/month reimbursement for general wellness.
- Much more: 401k, commuter benefits, daily team lunch! For a full list of perks and benefits see our Notion doc.
$155,000 - $175,000 a year
Camber is building towards a world where better care wins. A world where providers focus on patients, not on navigating the kafkaesque nightmare of medical insurance billing.
We aim to wrap this nightmare in a big hug of automation, scalable tooling, programmable interfaces, and F*ck Yes product experiences.
We're looking for talented, rigorous, kind, empathetic, and ambitious (the good kind!) people who want to build a better world.
We can't wait to meet you :)
