As the Senior Workplace Manager within the Global Corporate Real Estate (GCRE) team, you'll play a pivotal role in optimizing BioMarin’s real estate portfolio and crafting inspiring workspaces for our employees.
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Strategic Project Management: Lead projects from short-term pilots to long-term campus master planning, analyzing space utilization at the company level. 
  • Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with business units to develop project programs and workplace plans tailored to customer needs and BioMarin standards. Lead and execute change management processes for workplace initiatives. 
  • Innovative Design: Utilize best practices to plan and design new spaces, whether for lease renewals, new locations, or renovations. 
  • Space Optimization: Manage space allocation among user groups to maximize real estate use and enhance collaboration and workflow. 
  • Standardization: Establish templates and processes to streamline space and change requests. 
  • Data Management: Collaborate with Occupancy Planners to ensure space data accuracy in CAFM systems and provide regular reports. 
  • Visualization and Analysis: Conduct diagramming, data analysis, and visualization to support space programming and design presentations. 
  • Sustainable Solutions: Design effective and sustainable workspace layouts, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. 
  • Utilization Analysis: Analyze utilization data to develop workplace strategies and maintain space utilization dashboards. 
About the Team: 
Reporting to the Director of Campus and Workplace, our team is dedicated to planning and creating functional spaces that embody BioMarin’s culture and values. We oversee all aspects of BioMarin’s global workplace, including campus and site master planning, land use & development, design, workplace strategy & guidelines, project planning, and more. 
 
Qualifications: 
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field. 
  • Experience: 8+ years in workplace planning, design, programming management, and space management. 
  • Skills
  • Expertise in developing workspace solutions with business unit leads and partners. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities using quantitative data analysis and modeling. 
  • Understanding of construction costs and project timelines. 
  • Flexibility to work with shifting scopes and deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in integrating complex data from various systems (HR, Finance, etc.). 
  • Experience with CAFM systems and AutoCAD, particularly for headcount data, facility space plans, move management, and more. 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Demonstrated skills as an influencer and relationship builder; change management experience is a plus. 
  • A strong team player who is also an independent thinker, ready to challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions to space challenges. 
Location: 
This role is based in San Rafael, CA, and is a hybrid position with 2-3 days in the office per week.
