Job Description:
We are seeking a Trade Compliance Counsel with a focus on Life Sciences to support our clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors. In this role, you will advise on import and U.S. customs regulations, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks that govern the movement of highly regulated products across borders. This is an exciting opportunity to work with leading companies in the Life Sciences industry and deliver practical, business-aligned legal guidance.

Responsibilities:

• Advising on import classifications, tariffs, and regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals, biologics, and medical devices.
• Providing legal support for U.S. customs compliance, including valuation, country-of-origin, and entry documentation.
• Collaborating with clients’ regulatory and supply chain teams to support import/export strategies.
• Supporting internal audits and risk assessments related to customs and import issues.
• Monitoring changes in FDA, CBP, and related regulatory environments impacting global trade operations.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of legal experience, ideally with direct exposure to Life Sciences import and customs matters.
• Strong understanding of U.S. import law, CBP regulations, and Life Sciences-related compliance challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Juris Doctor or equivalent preferred – however, non-licensed attorneys with strong experience in this area will be considered.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience advising on cross-border movement of clinical trial materials, controlled substances, or FDA-regulated products.
• Familiarity with GMP compliance, DEA registrations, or dual-use goods is a plus.

Compensation, Benefits & Location:

This role offers a range of competitive compensation from $150,000 and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401K and more. Axiomites predominately work remotely, with the exception that some clients require on-site presence.
