The Global Procurement function at Avery Dennison is evolving to become a Value Creator function, Following are our team fundamentals.

Mission

The VP, Procurement - Materials Group North America (MGNA) & Global Chemicals is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Avery Dennison MGNA regional procurement team across our Materials Group that is comprised of Label and Packaging Materials, Graphics Solutions, Reflective Solutions, and Performance Tapes businesses, with a focus on ensuring competitiveness and value creation within the regional procurement spend of $1.5BN (direct and indirect).  Additionally this role will look into the Global Chemicals Category Spend of $1.0BN and drive the 5 levers strategic plan that will enable spend and category optimization as well as building a united community of chemicals category managers across the world. 

 

Reporting Structure: 

Reports directly to Materials Group Vice President, Global Procurement, with a dotted line to the SVP for Materials Group North America

 

Critical Objectives:

  • Regional Leadership: Leading a regional team of approximately 20 employees supporting direct categories in papers, films and chemicals as well as various indirect spend categories for total regional spend of approximately $1.5BN. 

  • Global Leadership: Leading the global category team of 8 employees and managing the strategy for global Chemicals spend of circa $1.0BN. Uniting the regions under the global category strategy and nurturing the Chemicals community to drive a 5 year strategic plan. 

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead Project Nova from the front and be the ambassador for the same inside and outside the organization. Drive the functional transformation in sync with our Avery Dennison Plan to Win and our Material Groups Global Strategy.  

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Manage supplier relationships at a senior level, drive increased productivity  year over year, develop improved, repeatable processes, drive excellence in functional execution and governance, and deliver the latest thinking and best practices in the areas of strategic sourcing, cost modeling, supplier relationship development, and total cost of ownership.

  • Strategy & Execution: With support from the Global Category Management Team as well as other cross functional partners, develop and implement long-term category strategies that are geared toward developing competitive advantage in materials.

  • Creating Differentiation: Stay on the leading-edge of materials trends, creating first mover advantages and delivering innovation, new materials and new suppliers to the business.

  • Provide Market Intelligence & enable actions: Share market, competitive, geo-political intelligence on a regular basis in all aspects of the supply chain to enable the enterprise the necessary navigation. 

  • Drive Innovation: Work with marketing and R&D teams to determine future sourcing needs and develop sourcing plans to address the future direction of the business. Work with Business Unit leadership and Procurement teams to develop supplier innovation plans to extract maximum value from the supply base.

  • Drive Fundamentals: Ensure value stream analysis, supplier roadmaps and cost models are robust and complete for each category. Liaison with the other regional and the global procurement teams managing global supply risk and help identify and qualify new sources of supply that are aligned with the subcategory procurement strategy and the business strategy.

  • Coach & Mentor: Act as a mentor to top talent within the procurement function and broader cross-functional leadership of the region

  • Seat at the Table: Member of the Global Materials Procurement leadership team (GMPLT) and the Materials Group North America (MGNA) regional business leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s Degree/MBA desired. 

  • 15+ years of Procurement / Strategic Sourcing or Direct Category Management exp. with a Global Company. 

  • Experience with Paper, Films is desired and Chemicals a major plus. Indirect Experience is a must.  

  • International Experience of leading global and regional teams. 

  • Result oriented leader with an ability to build cohesive teams and drive transformation with a futuristic mindset. 

  • The role will require regular travel.
