We are searching for an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist with at least 3-5 years of experience in Certified Payroll. This position will be based at Orange, California. The ability to communicate well and work with others is essential, as this position will interact daily with multiple internal and external teams.

This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of prevailing wage laws, as well as the need to maintain accurate records of prevailing wage rates, certified payroll, and related documentation in accordance with legal requirements.

The Certified Payroll Specialist is responsible for the following job duties:

  • Comprehensive understanding of prevailing wage laws and practices
  • Strong attention to details and exceptional analytical skills
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of prevailing wage rates, certified payrolls, and related documentation, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ad-Hoc Requests and Reporting: Handle ad-hoc payroll, labor, and compliance requests and generate necessary reports.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years certified payroll experience. Technical services/construction/engineering industry a plus.
  • Computer skills: Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software
  • Communication skills: Having excellent communication skills 
  • Trustworthiness: Being able to work with sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers and medical documentation 
  • Organization: Being able to work well in an organized manner 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in payroll or labor compliance are a plus.
  • Multi-State Compliance: Knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance requirements, specifically in NY, MA, WA, CA, OR, NV and HI.
  • National Payroll Experience: Experience managing payroll for a national company with multiple acquisitions per year.
  • Government Contracts: Knowledge of Federal and State government contracts.
  • Integration Skills: Ability to integrate payroll systems and processes during acquisitions.
  • Change Management: Experience in managing change and ensuring compliance during organizational transitions.
  • Payroll System: Experience with Paylocity’s Prevailing Wage module is a plus

 

Compensation:

$41-$51/hr DOE , We offer excellent health benefits, a 401(k) Plan, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays and flexible scheduling.
