HR Operations Specialist (Benefits & Leave)

Alarm.com is looking for an experienced HR professional with a strong work ethic and an interest in the Benefits discipline to help administer the company’s employee benefits and leave of absence programs. We are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and analytical individual to join our growing HR team based out of our headquarters in Tysons Corner, VA. The HR Operations Specialist (Benefits & Leave) will play an integral role in supporting and strengthening Alarm.com’s employee health and well-being programs through customer service, special projects, and ongoing administrative tasks.

The HR Operations Specialist (Benefits & Leave) will be an organized self-starter who is passionate about both numbers and people. The ideal candidate will be the type of individual who enjoys rolling up their sleeves in a tight-knit and fast-paced environment. You will be part of a collaborative, fast-paced HR department on a got-your-back team that builds, creates, and solves problems together.   

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supporting the administration of all employee benefit and well-being programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, life/AD&D, FSA/HSA, disability, COBRA, and 401(k)
  • Co-lead and administer the company’s leave of absence (FMLA, STD/LTD, Military, etc.) and accommodation (ADA) program; often working closely with employees, Payroll, Legal, HR Business Partners, Managers, the Benefits Team, and our third-party administrator to ensure compliance, transparency, and ease of process.
  • Co-manage Benefits Team inbox to respond to benefits questions; providing thoughtful customer service to employees regarding life events, eligibility, or claims issues
  • Work closely with benefit vendors, brokers, and consultants to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction and superior administration
  • Through observations and formal evaluations, deliver and execute recommendations which impact the effectiveness and utilization of all health and welfare programs
  • Support the annual open enrollment process through strategic communication, marketing assignments, system testing, and auditing
  • Create and update company intranet pages to ensure internal and external benefits and leave program guidelines, processes and information are current, explicit, and visually appealing
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures to ensure all regular processes are detailed and kept current
  • Complete weekly and monthly billing tasks and partner with Accounts Payable to ensure all benefits vendors are paid timely and accurately
  • Partner with the Benefits Team to support new hire benefits orientation, RFPs, implementations, wellness fairs and events, and other special projects
  • Process auto and worker’s compensation claims, as needed
  • Prepare, collect, and organize data for annual plan audits and reporting
  • General, routine auditing to support data integrity and compliance-related objectives
  • Perform regulatory compliance tasks associated with with ACA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, OSHA and similar related federal, state, and local legislation governing employee benefit plans
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 2+ years of HR experience (experience with benefits and leave of absence administration required; experience with reasonable accommodations administration preferred).
  • A process mindset with a continuous improvement approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A high degree of personal integrity and maturity including the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Comfort with hunting down answers and driving solutions autonomously
  • Natural ability to show compassion and empathy when presented with difficult situations
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple processes and priorities at once
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Workday HCM experience a plus
