Job Description

We are looking for great people to join our team within our Forestry, Biomass and Carbon team specifically focused (but not limited to) supporting our work with carbon project due diligence and de-risking of Nature Based Solutions (NBS) projects. You will have a strong background in voluntary carbon market standards (Verra, Gold Standard, CAR, ACR etc.) and associated methodologies, and ideally strong project management skills. You will be working in a dynamic project-based environment focusing on delivering strategic solutions to our global client base.

You will be actively responsible for monitoring, reviewing and providing subject matter expertise on voluntary carbon methodologies/protocols within client projects and acting as a thought leader within the AFRY Management Consulting team in this area.

Your contribution to the complete project delivery process, including collation and analysis of data, market and industry research, technology and management analysis, solution design, implementation planning and realisation will be a vital part of the role.

You will need to act as a project manager and/or client relationship manager as well as working with other project managers/project supervisors to deliver projects.

Supporting knowledge management and developing innovative solutions for our clients will be key to the success of the job.

Participating in client meetings, often presenting the part of the work which you have been responsible for, and sometimes working side-by-side with clients will be integral part of this position.

Making enthusiastic contributions to the competence, business and offering development and involvement in the sales process will be other areas in which your will thrive.

Qualifications

We are looking for Consultants who are enthusiastic, passionate and have an in interest in carbon, forestry, and nature-based solutions. Along with recent experience of voluntary carbon standards and NBS methodologies/protocols e.g. successful carbon project development, involvement in methodology development, academic review of carbon methodologies.

We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical, so we are looking for people with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, including statistics, and the ability to pay attention to detail and use MS Excel proficiently.

Virtually all the work we do requires team working so if you have effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others within a project team and wider office environment you will fit in well.

In addition, report writing is a core part of our work and so we are also looking for the ability to explain complex information in a clear and logical way in English using both Word and PowerPoint.

You will be working in a commercial environment against budgets and deadlines so you will need to be able to think for yourself, be pro-active and have a business-oriented mindset.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills like an additional language, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.  We appreciate a relevant university degree (M.Sc./B.Sc. in Carbon, Forestry or Biomass related topics) with strong academic performance plus working experience in the forestry and biomass industry or relevant process areas such as forest carbon, precision forestry, financial analysis, due diligence, value chain optimisation, etc.

Additional Information

Available office locations for this position are London, Stockholm, Munich, New York.  We work both in our own offices and with our clients. There is some requirement for business travel, although much of your work will be based in our offices.
