The Marketing Analytics and Business Insights (MABI) team supporting AbbVie’s US Commercial organization is 250+ members strong and growing every day. We comprise highly respected researchers, analysts, and strategists striving to be the gold standard Research & Analytics organization within the biopharmaceutical industry. The Lead Director for AbbVie Patient Services (APS) will design, implement, manage and effectively communicate marketing research and analytics initiatives across the portfolio on behalf of AbbVie Patient Services. The primary goals of this position lie in leading and developing the Marketing Analytics & Business Insights function supporting AbbVie Patient Services by building a consultative approach to design, monitor and assess the performance of our Patient Care Models.

This position is crucial to enhancing AbbVie Patient Services through strategic insights and analytics, requiring expertise in data-driven decision-making, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

The individual will support multiple therapeutic areas and guide strategic and tactical business decisions derived from high-impact learnings from qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary research, behavioral analytics, market intelligence, and internal stakeholder initiatives.

This role will report to the Senior Director of Marketing Analytics and Business Insights (MABI) for Patient Services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as intelligence partner across AbbVie Patient Services verticals (e.g. Marketing, Patient Services Strategy, etc.) focused on providing strategic insights, forming a trusted relationship, and staying abreast of issues and burgeoning trends within the patient support space.
  • Drive alignment and buy-in to recommendations across functional senior leaders across the Abbvie Patient Services organization through insightful market research and analytically sound measurement results.
  • Inform AbbVie Patient Service strategic and tactical planning processes by understanding marketplace dynamics and stakeholder influences throughout the patient journey. Develop plans to address insight gaps and enhance patient experience. Clarify moments of meaning and highlight opportunities to enhance the patient's experience. Develop plans to prioritize and address insight gaps.
  • Perform thought-provoking and sophisticated syntheses of learning across research, analytics, and market intelligence sources to develop and communicate, actionable insights & recommendations that shape strategies and tactics.
  • Lead the Franchise Care Models team in a manner that ensures the team advances the business, guiding Patient services strategy and plan: with insights and leading analytic techniques and capabilities that address patient needs and experience.
    • Develop and manage teams on functional, technical, and marketing best practices, financial acumen and how to translate complicated information into compelling stories and learning.
    • Coach teams within the organization to raise the bar and foster a culture aligned with the AbbVie Ways We Work.
  • Design and execute against measurement plans, inclusive of selected operational and performance indicators, to ensure the organization’s understanding of execution, engagement and impact of patient support programs and tactics.
  • Coordinate and manage monthly and quarterly program business reviews on patient support programs.
  • Maintain organizational knowledge of the market, competitive trends, and industry developments and effectively communicate this knowledge to internal stakeholders.
  • Build solid relationships across functions (Brand, Patient Services, Market Access), collaborating to leverage intelligence for patient support model development while representing the voice of the customer.
  • Be conversant with custom research methods, adept at supplier and stakeholder management, and able to independently lead custom research projects that deliver compelling and actionable learnings.
  • Partner with AbbVie Patient Service functional teams, Data Strategy, Omnichannel analytics, Access and Affordability analytics, Business Technology Solutions, Pharmacy Solutions, and Patient Assistance Programs and pull through into recommendations for performance opportunities.
  • Partner with Data Strategy & BI team efforts to ensure accurate and reliable data assets and tools are incorporated to improve speed to insights
  • Leverage innovative, sophisticated analytic models that address critical issues, but also meet key business criteria.
  • Appropriately manage and collaborate with both onshore and offshore research and analytics suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage research and analytics programs budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings, and ensuring financial compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology computer science, information technology, engineering, marketing analytics, business, or related analytics field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 15+ years of related professional experience
  • 5+ years leading teams.
  • Experience developing and managing consultative teams that can leverage analytics, primary market research and market intelligence to inform care model development.
  • Strong understanding and prior experience with the development and implementation of patient service in the following areas: Bridge and Co-Pay programs, HUB processes, Prior Authorizations, In-Field Access Specialists, Buy & Bill, Retail and specialty pharmacy workflows.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pharma ecosystem and datasets including physician-level prescribing, institutional sales data, payer-prescriber-level data, formulary data, Rebates, Symphony claims, Copay claims.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
