About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic Licensing Coordinator-Japan to join our New York office, where you will play a key role in bridging the Peanuts team in the U.S. with our Japanese partners and clients. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment, managing communications and ensuring the smooth flow of information between Japan and our U.S. teams. You will help coordinate licensing and marketing efforts for Japan, assist with product development, and provide translation support—all while ensuring that Peanuts’ branding and messaging remains consistent and impactful. 

As the Licensing Coordinator - Japan, you will support the Senior Director in handling day-to-day operations, contributing to Peanuts’ success in one of our most significant markets. Your ability to communicate fluently in both Japanese and English will be key to collaborating effectively with our Japanese partners, licensees, and internal teams across various departments. This role is designed for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. 

Job Description

  • Coordinate flow of information to/from our Japanese agent including, but not limited to: decks & sizzles, social media stats, success stories, NDAs, publishing materials/shipments and overall brand updates. This could include development of onesheets or materials to Japan agent or other stakeholders in order help with category specific pitches
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating centralized files for all Japan-related documents and materials (i.e. spreadsheets, contact lists, charts, creative, etc.)
  • Assisting Sr. Director in daily communication and interaction with Japanese Agent and Partners in both English and Japanese
  • Interface with multiple departments to communicate latest Japan business and marketing updates
  • Preparation of sales and summary presentations of various Peanuts events, tradeshows, and retail promotions in Japanese and English
  • Maintain Japan marketing/business calendar including timeline and images
  • Management of internal press release process
  • Monitoring press kit, manuals, event reports and development of case studies to support strong business development
  • Respond to Agent/client’s questions, requests, and needs in relation to product development and brand management
  • Assisting internal flow process and procedures relating to contracts for Japan. Responsibilities include Circulation and communication between Legal, Finance, and Agents/clients in both English and Japanese communication).
  • Provide general translation support for Japan business, such as drafting letters and other correspondence and documents which require verbal/written translation of Japanese/English
  • Help prepare teams for business trips, summits and trade shows

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Japanese and English: Native proficiency in both languages (reading, writing, and speaking) for effective communication with Japanese partners and internal teams.  

  • Experience in Licensing, Marketing, or Brand Management: Relevant experience in these areas, preferably in an international context.  

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal teams.  

  • Translation Skills: Ability to translate between Japanese and English, especially for corporate content, and review translations for accuracy.  

  • Proficiency in MS Office & Excel: Strong skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (formulas, charts) for managing documents and presentations.  

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing materials and documents.  

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of both U.S. and Japanese business cultures to foster effective collaboration.  

  • Team Player: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and support internal communication efforts.  

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Preferred, but relevant experience may substitute.  

  • High Emotional Intelligence: Ability to navigate complex relationships with professionalism and empathy.
