About the team


We have an opportunity for an experienced and strategic Marketing Lead to head up our high-performing email team at Web Summit.


Email is one of our most critical acquisition, engagement, and retention channels, and we’re looking for a marketing leader who can drive performance in email while being the glue within the broader marketing landscape, including paid media, website, and data insights.


You’ll lead and grow a talented team of email marketers, implement scalable systems and processes, and ensure email marketing is aligned and integrated within our full-funnel marketing strategy. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep email expertise with a strong generalist marketing background, thrives on collaboration, and brings a sharp strategic eye to cross-channel alignment.


What you'll achieve
  • Lead the email marketing strategy, from lifecycle campaigns and audience segmentation to creative execution and performance optimisation.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of email marketing specialists - fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment and supporting individual development.
  • Be the glue between email, ads, website, and insights teams, ensuring messaging, timing, and targeting are aligned across all channels.
  • Oversee the end-to-end email campaign lifecycle including deployment, A/B testing, and deliverability improvements.
  • Own the email tech stack and automation strategy - ensuring tools are scalable, integrated, and set up for efficiency and innovation.
  • Work closely with our Insights and Analytics teams to build dashboards, surface key performance trends, and translate data into actionable marketing strategy.
  • Partner with design and web teams to ensure campaign assets are high-quality, on-brand, and delivered on schedule.
  • Champion a test-and-learn culture - owning experimentation frameworks for creative, timing, subject lines, and segmentation strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with GDPR and other data privacy regulations, while promoting best practices in consent and list management.
  • Present clear insights and performance updates to senior stakeholders, helping to inform broader marketing decisions.


Who you are
  • You have 7+ years of marketing experience, including extensive hands-on email marketing and cross-channel campaign experience.
  • You’ve led a team, supported career growth, and are motivated by building high-performing, collaborative marketing functions.
  • You’re a strong generalist with a deep understanding of how email fits into the broader marketing funnel - across paid media, web, and analytics.
  • You’re experienced in CRM and marketing automation tools (Salesforce, Iterable or similar), and data platforms like GA4.
  • You know how to structure campaigns around customer journeys and are confident with segmentation, dynamic content, and personalisation.
  • You’re data-literate and confident building or briefing dashboards that influence strategic decisions.
  • You’re a proactive collaborator, highly organised, and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

  • Slack, Monday.com, and other collaboration/project management tools
