Veterinarian (Internship Training Required)

Veterinarian (Internship Training Required)

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Veterinarian to join our dynamic 3-doctor team at Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Clinton Hill in Brooklyn, NY! This role is ideal for an individual with internship training (Small Animal or Emergency) and at least 2 years of post-internship experience—no new graduates, please.

Here, you'll thrive in a fast-paced, supportive environment where you'll see approximately 16-18 pets per day, with 30-minute GP appointments and one surgery day per week (performing 2-3 surgeries and dentals per day). You will also manage 4-6 drop-offs and walk-ins per shift. We focus on cats and dogs and provide daytime urgent care/emergency treatment, but overnight hospitalization and after-hours care is not offered at this facility (one of our sister locations provides this).

Because surgery is not a requirement, we welcome those who prefer seeing appointments only; however, common surgeries include spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals. This is a client-facing role that requires exceptional customer service skills, as many of our loyal clients have been with us for years. Our highly trained support staff ensures that our veterinarians can concentrate on patient care, without needing to handle technician tasks.

The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, decisive, has strong communication skills, and is able to thrive in a busy setting. Collaboration with our close-knit team across our three locations is key. You must be passionate about high-quality veterinary care and delivering excellent customer service.

We offer a supportive work environment, with access to specialists in orthopedics, cardiology, and internal medicine. Relocation assistance and a sign-on bonus are available. Join our growing team to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our patients and their families!

What to Expect

Salary: The base salary for this position is between $170,000 and $180,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, there is a pro-sal incentive of 20%. There will be no negative accrual during the first 12 months, providing a stable foundation as you establish yourself. High performers have the opportunity to significantly exceed the base salary, with earning potential that can surpass $250,000 per year, depending on productivity.

Location: Pure Paws Veterinary Care - Clinton Hill (944 Fulton St., Brooklyn, NY 11238)

Schedule: Full-Time, 32-35 hours per week, includes 1-hour lunch break

As you join our mission to provide exceptional veterinary care, expect to be supported in your work and personal life with:

  • A schedule that respects your time. You'll be scheduled for 4 shifts/week (32-35 hours per week) that meet your needs for work/life balance. No on-call duties or holiday work are required! We prioritize high-quality, personalized care by scheduling 30-minute appointments, giving our veterinarians ample time to assess patients, discuss treatment options, and build strong client relationships. You'll have the opportunity to provide thorough diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up care while working with a supportive team in a well-equipped environment.
  • A minimum 3:1 staff to doctor ratio. You will have the support—and respect—you need to be excellent for our patients. We’ve got your back. Our team consists of 3 DVMs, 2 LVTs, 8 Assistants, and 5 CSRs.
  • All the benefits you deserve—health, dental, vision, retirement—plus: sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, pet discounts (50% off services), uniform allowance, $2500 CE allowance, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP), plus we will cover your dues, license fees and AVMA-PLIT!
  • Paid time off. Catch your breath with 16 days of Paid Time Off (PTO), paid holidays, and paid CE days every year. Take the time you need to recharge.
  • Partnership opportunities through Veterinary Practice Partners (VPP), where more than 125 veterinarians co-own practices across 138 locations. VPP offers unmatched support in operations, marketing, and finance, allowing you to focus on your passion for veterinary medicine.
