Verisign operates two of the Domain Name System (DNS) root servers and provides registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, enabling the world’s 5.5 billion Internet users to connect online with reliability and confidence, anytime, anywhere. Our global servers process millions of DNS queries every second. Because these services underpin the online connectivity of the Internet, our products must be absolutely correct and remain available – even during the most extreme Internet spike load events.
Verisign’s “ATLAS” platform implementation team is a high performing, agile team who builds horizontally scalable, high performance, and highly available systems. As part of the team, you will be involved in designing and implementing new capabilities for this platform, and also in deployment using CI/CD principles. You will be working with the software that fundamentally enables the internet to operate at scale.
The Person:
We’re looking for a mid-level software engineer who demonstrate:
- strong collaboration skills
- a track record for high quality and impactful delivery demonstrating strong design skills and a passion for code quality
- true craftsmanship, who enjoys breaking down tough problems
- passion for producing quality code and dedicated to best practices such as automated testing, code reviews, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
- that they are an agent for change, constantly learning and seeking better outcomes
- skill at interacting and working with people in a positive manner to mitigate key project technical risks and ensure quality
Required Skills:
- Has solid understanding of writing software in C++ or similar system-level programming language
- Python or similar scripting language
- Proven foundation in Computer Science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, object-oriented design)
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, Ansible)
- Proficient with Linux
- Outstanding problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
- Excellent teammate who enjoys a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English
Relevant Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in software development
- 2+ years of C++ or similar system-level programming language
- Working on an Agile software development team
Bonus Skills:
- Hands on experience with the Rust programming language
- Familiarity with DNS at the protocol level
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
Education:
- 4 years Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
