Accounting Clerk I

Vast is looking for a(n) Accounting Clerk I, reporting to the Assistant Controller, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. 

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and process employee travel and expense (T&E) reports for accuracy and compliance with company policy.
  • Verify receipts and supporting documentation for all expense submissions.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in T&E reports.
  • Enter T&E data into the accounting system or expense management platform (e.g., NetSuite, Ramp).
  • Ensure timely reimbursement to employees.
  • Communicate with employees regarding policy clarifications, missing documentation, or corrections needed.
  • Assist in reconciling corporate credit card statements and T&E accounts.
  • Maintain organized records for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes as related to T&E accounts.
  • Accurately code company expenses utilizing the chart of accounts and account segmentation.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Suggest improvements to streamline the T&E process.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on T&E or accounts payable.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with T&E within an aerospace industry.
  • Familiarity with expense management systems. (e.g., NetSuite, Ramp)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls related to T&E.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
Salary Range: California
$25$30 USD

U.S. EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE STATUS

The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing. This status includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), and asylees and refugees with such status granted, not pending.
