JOB TITLE:                      Associate Analyst – Financial Policy

HOURS:                          37.5 hours/week, Hybrid working with 2 days per week on site

Contract Type:            Fixed Term – 7 months

LOCATION:                    Central London Office

REPORTING TO:         Head of Financial Policy

GRADE:                         Associate Analyst  (Circa £36,000 per annum)

We are the home of the two award-winning research brands, Carbon Tracker and Planet Tracker, which together comprise Tracker Group, combined under one corporate entity since 2022. 


Together, we mobilise investors and corporates alike to intervene on issues surrounding climate change, the energy transition, and nature and biodiversity, seeking to drive fundamental, systems-level change in how financial markets address these seismic global issues. To achieve these changes, we work with the full range of other stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, academia and NGOs.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for an Associate Analyst to join our Financial Policy team. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to our policy engagement and research work covering the UK and Europe, assisting with the development of public materials from the very beginning and socialising our research outputs with key stakeholders.

This role will be responsible for providing research and analytical support linked to

 

  • Supporting with UK and EU policy and regulatory consultation responses, as well scoping out other policy and regulatory opportunities linked to the Financial Policy team’s work programmes.
  • Assisting with Parliamentary and other stakeholder mapping in the UK and EU to identify policymakers who might support our objectives.
  • Supporting the team in writing high quality research outputs and public reports linked to existing work programmes, exhibiting sound judgement and critical thinking.
  • Staying on top of new UK and European financial policy publications and CSO campaigns/events linked to the team’s work programme.
  • Maintaining partnerships and supporting external stakeholders with ad hoc analysis as required.
  • Working independently and alongside others to achieve team and organisational objectives.
  • Collaborating with team members and contribute to a knowledge-sharing culture within the research teams.
  • Speaking to research findings and policy recommendations to the media and at public events.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

  • Some experience in policy research, public affairs, or parliamentary monitoring—ideally in a UK or European context.
  • Exposure to working with or researching public institutions, pension funds, or government consultations is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with Freedom of Information (FOI) processes and/or data analysis skills would be an advantage.
  • Experience supporting the drafting of guidance notes, reports, or briefings is beneficial, especially in a collaborative team setting.

Skills

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information and distil key findings.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to contribute to the drafting of policy guidance, reports, and briefing documents.
  • Competence in desktop research and information gathering across government publications, think tanks, NGOs, and parliamentary records.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and support team-wide objectives.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic data-handling skills

Personal Attributes

  • A strong interest in public policy, transparency, responsible investment, and/or public sector reform.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate outputs.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a flexible approach to working across multiple projects.
  • Motivated by the potential for impact in public policy and governance, particularly within the pension and investment space.
  • An existing network in sustainable finance or financial media would be considered an advantage.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in a relevant field.

BENEFITS

  • Salary Range: Circa £36,000 per year, based on experience.
  • Hybrid Work Environment: Minimum of two days in the office, with the rest either from the office or home.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, with an additional day for every year worked (up to a maximum of 30 days per year).
  • Pension Contribution: 7% employer contribution.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme: Access to a cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Remote Work Flexibility: Up to four weeks per year working remotely.
