The Oncology Service in Springfield, VA is Seeking a Full-Time, Experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to Join Our Team  

The Oncology Service (TOS) is a leading multi-facility small animal oncology practice dedicated to transforming a cancer diagnosis into an opportunity for enhancing a pet’s quality of life and maximizing their time with their families. Whether the prognosis is hopeful or more guarded, we are committed to providing the best possible care and support.
 
We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for our Medical Oncology department. The ideal candidate is direct, friendly, organized, resilient, flexible, and has a passion for working with cats and dogs. Essential skills include customer service, computer proficiency, and the ability to multitask. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced environment, be comfortable taking direction from doctors and team members, and be safety-conscious, especially when handling chemotherapeutics. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Acquiring histories
  • Obtaining blood samples
  • Utilizing Idexx in-house lab equipment to run patient lab work
  • Assisting doctors with exams
  • Obtaining radiographs
  • Flawless IV catheter placement
  • Administering chemotherapy (experience preferred but not required)
  • Obtaining radiographs
  • Patient care
  • Client education and communication  
Qualifications and Skills: 
  • Licensed Veterinary Technicians only. Valid Virginia licensure required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a LVT required
  • Prior specialty medicine experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Fundamental knowledge of windows-based computer programs
  • Ability to recognize and seek guidance in all client-related cases where protocol does not apply
  • Need to have the ability to remain professional and inviting even under stressful and emotional situations
Compensation:
  • Salary commensurate with experience; $28.00 - $32.00/hour. 
Schedule:
  • 4-day work week 
  • No nights, weekends or overnights!
