Pay Range: $35.43 - $46.06 per hour ($73,689 - $95,796 annually)

Workdays & Hours: FLSA Exempt position. Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid on-site work model available with supervisory approval; staff required to be on-site at least 2 days per week (this is non-negotiable).

An IT Technical Support Analyst II position is available with the City of Fort Worth IT Solutions Department’s Network & Voice Services Division. The IT Technical Support Analyst helps the City build strong neighborhoods, develop a sound economy, provide a safe community and fosters a healthy environment by having a well-designed and strong network infrastructure, crucial to these city efforts. Since a significant level of discretion is given to this position, you will have every opportunity to effect positive change. How this role accomplishes this goal is listed below:

  • Provide network support to the City’s First Responders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university or two (2) years of major course work in Computer Science or a related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in computer-related positions such as operating systems, networking, or database administration
  • Minimum of one (1) certification specific to the role: CCNA, ACMA, PCNSA, F5-CTP plus one (1) of the following certificates: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, ITIL Foundations certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Candidate selected for hire must pass a CJIS background check (see below for details)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two (2) years of experience managing, upgrading and replacing Cisco network devices
  • Two (2) years of experience managing wireless networks
  • Two (2) years of experience with Meraki & Palo Alto Firewalls and F5 BIG-IP

The IT Technical Support/Analyst II job responsibilities include: 

  • Design, implement, maintain & troubleshoot wireless, local & wide-area networks including access points, switches, routers, firewalls and load balancers
  • Implementation and support of the network security infrastructure including firewalls, content filters, VPNs and all layers of network security
  • Develop network solutions that meet business needs for projects with varying size and complexity
  • Assist in mentoring and training lower level technical personnel
  • Monitor, analyze and optimize network performance

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.

Physical Demand

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.

Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.  Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:  Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
