Position Summary: We are seeking a (1) Senior Payroll Specialist to perform routine payroll activities such as data entry, computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for payroll advances, and updating payroll records. Additionally, the Senior Specialist will balance and monitor earnings and deduction totals, calculate and prepare general ledger entries, inspect system output records, reconcile and correct account entries, prepare reports for financial statements, and handle special projects. This individual should be experienced in payroll concepts, practices, and procedures.
Required Experience and Education: • US taxes and payroll experience (5-6 year) any companies report, knowledge on the government 944-943 forms and state unemployment tax (this is a must) • https://www.irs.gov/publications/p15 • Experience with specific firm payroll systems preferred. • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or other industry designation preferred. Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Understand clients’ needs and proactively propose solutions. • Perform data entry and verify clients’ timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness within established timelines. • Process new hires, terminations, and changes to client employees’ payroll records. • Post changes in pay and/or tax status. • Maintain clients’ time and attendance records. • Calculate and execute special pay scenarios for clients, such as extra pays, advances, special pay types, and other less-routine situations. • Calculate and prepare general ledger entries using firm systems and procedures. • Prepare and file payroll taxes and reports for clients. • Perform, reconcile, and correct regular reports for payroll, tax, and financial reporting purposes. • Assist with orienting, training, and directing the work of entry-level staff. • Lead or assist with special projects. • Perform other duties as assigned.
