Market Strategy & Operation Analyst Japan (8-Month Contract)

The Japan Markets and Subscriber team is looking for a market strategy and operations analyst to support the region’s growth by gathering insights through analysis and research to find opportunities for growth and building processes to help the business scale.


On the Markets and Subscriber team, you will work directly with the Market Strategy and Operations manager as well as leaders across the local Premium, Marketing, Music, Podcast, and Ad Sales teams, developing insights to inform the local go-to-market strategy and building critical business processes that enable cross-functional teamwork. At times, you will also be asked to step in to lead key strategic and operational projects to drive the region’s growth.


This is a temporary position, expected to run from around September 2025 to May 2026.


What You'll Do
  • Develop insights to inform the local go-to-market strategy through analysis of business metrics, research on market and competitor trends, and user research
  • Monitor and track performance metrics across the user funnel to identify key risks and opportunities for growth
  • Design and implement critical business processes to help the local business operate more efficiently
  • Prepare presentations and communicate findings to local leadership and the broader organization
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to bring data and insights to shape the execution of initiatives across the business
  • Support or at times step in to lead key strategic or operational initiatives critical to the local market’s growth


Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years experience in management consulting, investment banking, or in an equivalent strategy/operations role at a fast-growing technology company in the Japan market
  • Fluent in Japanese and English
  • Ability to quickly distill large amounts of information into clear insights and recommendations for leaders across the business
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort analyzing large datasets, with experience using tools such as Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel, and SQL
  • End-to-end, with excellent project management, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Agility to learn new concepts, technologies, and businesses quickly and produce quality work in short timeframes
  • Thrive working in a fast-paced, constantly-evolving environment
  • Experience working with an international team


Where You'll Be
  • This role is based in Tokyo
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home
