Position Overview

Sourgum is seeking a driven, strategic, and customer-obsessed professional to join our team as the Founding Senior Account Executive. In this role, you’ll be responsible for selling our ERP SaaS platform, to waste and recycling haulers — a mission-critical role where you’ll define how we grow our customer base and close high-impact deals.

As a founding Account Executive, you won’t just be following a playbook — you’ll be writing it. This is a hands-on, foundational role where you’ll help build the outbound sales motion, refine our ideal customer profile (ICP), and shape the future of our go-to-market strategy. You’ll own the full sales cycle, from prospecting to close, and work closely with leadership, marketing, and product to continuously improve how we sell and who we sell to.

This role is fully-in person, M-F, based out of our Jersey City, NJ office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Cycle Sales Ownership: Own the entire sales process from outbound prospecting and discovery through demo, proposal, negotiation, and close — with a focus on selling to waste and recycling haulers.
  • Outbound Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute outbound strategies to build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified leads. You’ll test channels, refine messaging, and help define what works.
  • Playbook Creation: Collaborate with leadership to build and refine the sales playbook, including outreach cadences, objection handling, qualification frameworks, and closing strategies.
  • ICP Refinement: Help shape and validate our ideal customer profile (ICP) and buyer personas based on insights gathered through direct customer interactions.
  • Product Expertise & Demos: Become a product expert and deliver tailored, consultative product demos that clearly communicate the value of our platform.
  • Collaboration & Feedback Loop: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to ensure smooth handoffs, inform GTM strategy, and relay customer feedback to improve the product.
  • Quota Attainment & Forecasting: Consistently meet or exceed sales targets while maintaining clean CRM hygiene and accurate pipeline forecasting.
  • Foundational Team Contribution: As a founding member of the sales team, you’ll help interview future hires, evaluate tools, and contribute to the culture of a high-performance sales org.
  • 3–6 years of experience in a full-cycle B2B SaaS sales role, ideally at a startup.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding quota in a high-velocity or consultative sales environment.
  • Strong outbound sales skills — you're comfortable cold calling, writing targeted emails, and getting creative to open doors.
  • Experience selling into operational or logistics-heavy industries is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to resonate with a range of stakeholders, from owners/operators to technical buyers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and excited to build — you thrive in environments where processes are being created, not inherited.
  • Self-starter with a bias for action, high accountability, and a team-first attitude.
  • Experience using CRM tools and sales engagement platforms.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the NYC/NJ area; this is a full-time in-office role in Jersey City.
  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $120,000
  • OTE: $160,000 - $200,000
