It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses. What you'll be doing

As a hardware engineer on the EE team, you are responsible for designing, validating and troubleshooting all aspects of the electrical design, from the components, PCB and system levels. You will own design tasks involving schematic, layout, component and circuit selection. You will work cross functionally with and support other teams and stakeholders to ensure that the electrical design meets the company's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and validation of circuit boards and interconnect

  • Bringup of new designs in tandem with the firmware team

  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis

  • Provide support to our operations team in Los Angeles 

  • Providing occasional onsite support at factory builds

  • Contribute to scalability plans

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent engineering field, or equivalent work experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the design and test of electrical systems in the robotics, consumer electronics, or other applicable fields

  • “Generalist” level skills enabling work on most any aspect of the robot

  • Experience in one of the major ECAD tools (e.g. Altium, Cadence)

  • Willingness to learn Altium if not already experienced

  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors and partners

  • Working knowledge of the Linux command line and associated commands for executing scripts, editing text files, piping results, etc. 

  • Hands on experience in debugging and testing electrical subsystems using typical lab equipment (oscilloscope, function generator, spectrum analyzer, electronic load, 

  • Experience designing with embedded systems, from flashing to debugging 

  • Experience in designing DC-DC power supplies 

  • Experience with high speed circuits and signal integrity measurements

  • Experience in hardware prototype bring-up, debug, fault detection, and failure analysis

  • Experience in debugging these interfaces : CAN, SPI, UART, I2C, USB

  • Experience in writing test software and scripts for test automation 

  • Experience in working with internal and external developers, test teams, lab technicians

  • Project management skills. Will take ownership of assigned platforms and/or subsystems, and be responsible for design, and driving deliverables to schedules.

  •  Demonstrated engineering discipline throughout the development life cycle (requirements discovery and specification, prototyping, vendor management, design validation, and startup of mass production).

  • Able to do own reworks with soldering iron, hot air gun, microscope, etc. down to 0402 size components

  • Domain expertise in any of sensors, motors, battery, cameras, power and thermal design

  • Experience working with factory support and vendor partnerships overseas

  • Experience in one or more of the following industries: automotive, medical, aerospace, robotics

  • Experience with tuning brushless DC motor controllers

  • Experience in the specification and testing of motors

  • Expertise in thermal testing

  • Experience in testing for EMC/EMI compliance

  • Experience developing software scripts (Python, Bash) for automating hardware tests

  • Spoken Mandarin language
