Summary
The Senior Field Technician supports and maintains both administrative and instructional computers, software, and networks. This work includes the repair of all technology-related equipment. The Field Technician provides on-site assistance to install, maintain, test, and repair systems and networks. Utilizes intermediate technical knowledge to implement and support IT initiatives. Provides technical support and resolves problems of a moderately complex nature. May assist users/departments in implementing requests or proposals and in determining information systems needs assessments. May supervise or provide functional direction to staff or student employees.
Responsibilities
• Provide issue resolution (network (Palo Alto), server (VMware), end-user support (Windows)), system integration, and documentation services
• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot desktop hardware and software packages
• Interact with end-users to identify current computing procedures and desktop-based systems
• Responsible for writing help desk documentation for ticket resolution
Requirements
• 10+ years of industry experience in IT, Public Safety, or a related industry
• Experience resolving help desk tickets, maintaining servers, applications, and backups
• Exposure to project management is preferred
• Ability to work outside of standard business hours, when necessary, to perform system upgrades
• Experience with Microsoft Office products
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills
• Presentation skills – ability to speak effectively to management staff and all other client personnel
• Must be able to pass an extensive background process
• On-call rotation required
Desired Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS, Computer Science, or similar focus
• Understanding of Public Safety, Law Enforcement, Fire, and/or Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
