The Intern, Junior UX plays a supportive role in helping to create intuitive and engaging user experiences for SanMar's products and services. This role assists in various stages of the UX design process, including research, brainstorming, prototyping, and testing. Under the guidance of experienced designers, the intern ensures that the final designs meet user needs and align with business goals while gaining hands-on experience and building valuable skills.

 

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Support the UX design process on smaller tasks or parts of larger projects, working closely with junior designers and senior team members.
  • Help ensure designs are user-friendly and align with the team's goals.
  • Join user research sessions and usability tests to observe and gather insights.
  • Learn how to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points while contributing ideas for improvement.
  • Create basic wireframes, mockups, or prototypes using tools like Figma under the guidance of junior and senior designers.
  • Focus on learning best practices for both web and mobile designs.
  • Help maintain a cohesive look and feel across platforms by checking and aligning designs to the team's style guide or design system.
  • Keep up with industry trends, tools, and techniques while sharing any interesting ideas or approaches with the team to contribute fresh perspectives.
  • Collaborate with Junior and Senior UX designers to complete tasks, learn best practices, and build your skills.
  • Ask questions and actively seek feedback to grow as a designer.
  • Prepare design presentations or reports for stakeholders.
  • Take on smaller parts of larger projects or assist on special assignments, helping the team meet deadlines and achieve high-quality results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

 

What Are We Looking For?

  • Currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or UX Design Preferred.
  • Experience in UX Design, demonstrating a basic understanding of design principles and user experience strategies.
  • Portfolio of past UX projects, illustrating user empathy and design skills.
  • Experience in Figma, including the creation of wireframes and interactive prototypes.
  • Good communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Utilize broad professional expertise and unique knowledge to contribute to company objectives and principles in a creative and effective way.

 

What's Our Offer?

Pay: You`ll earn $21.39 on an hourly basis.

 

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a weekly basis based on hours worked.

 

 

What Should You Expect?

Office: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Work environment is moderately quiet. Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building. SanMar's Eastpointe office is located near Seattle, WA and our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Quarterly travel may be required.
