Adjunct Instructor - UI/UX Design Bootcamp - CEPS (Hybrid)

SAIT’s Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) focuses on non-credit programs supporting corporate training, the individual learner and international projects. We create courses and programs for life-long learning with careers at our core. Our courses range from exploring general interests to up-skilling for career advancement and reskilling for career changes. We complete all background activities required to set up our products for students to purchase and experience several delivery options.

Course opportunity:

This opportunity is to deliver a 12 week experiential, hands on UI/UX Bootcamp to provide students the opportunity to develop skills in UX while working with other teams on capstone projects based on industry needs​. Pivot into a new career while adding a new perspective in human-centered design practices that can be applied to.

After 6 weeks of UX design theory with a hands-on approach, the students will work on industry capstone projects with teams from other product oriented bootcamps into designing a solution.​

The selected instructors will provide mentoring throughout the capstone project​ and teach the foundations of UX Design and how to approach problems from a user-centered perspective.  ​

• Prepare and present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners if applicable given the course outline
• Maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment
• Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
• Provide on-going support, guidance and advice to students
• Attend all SAIT training as required
• Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives
• Be an active and engaged member of the School
• Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
• Maintain contact with relevant industry sectors
• All other duties as required for the position

• Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Graphic Design or related field
• Advanced knowledge of common Industry Applications: Adobe Suite, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
• 5+ years of Design experience 
• 5+ years of experience in training or teaching
• Relevant field experience within the last six (6) months
• Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Skype or Zoom)
• Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
• Comfortable speaking to the public
• Positive & respectful attitude
• Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to organize and present written information

• Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace or Moodle is an asset)
• Training and knowledge of adult learning fundamentals
• Formal training or education in facilitation or teaching
• Formal training in online technologies
