Senior Engineering Manager, Portfolio Accounting

In this role, you will help build and scale Ridgeline’s next-generation Portfolio Accounting engine, a critical component of our industry-first cloud-native platform for investment management. You’ll lead a team of talented engineers, guiding them through the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical backend systems. You'll contribute to strategic decisions while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. What will you do?

  • Contribute business insight, design skills, and engineering best practices in close collaboration with product, design, and quality teams
  • Lead the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production deployment and support
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-performance, secure, and accurate portfolio accounting functionality that our customers rely on
  • Drive continuous improvement across the team using agile and kanban methodologies
  • Coach and mentor engineers to support their professional growth and development
  • Conduct regular performance conversations that align individual goals with business objectives
  • Inspire and manage a high-performing team delivering enterprise-grade financial technology
  • Design and build backend systems using modern frameworks and scalable AWS services
  • Own key backend services that directly impact customer success
  • Solve challenging technical problems while encouraging creativity and autonomy within the team
  • Foster a collaborative environment rooted in learning, feedback, and inclusion
  • Cultivate strong relationships across geographically distributed teams
  • Model and promote a transparent feedback culture among peers and direct reports
  • Actively contribute to the team’s codebase and lead technical design and code reviews

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in cloud-based architecture
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams in a hands-on technical leadership role
  • Proven success managing teams of 6–8 engineers
  • Domain experience in Portfolio Accounting, Finance, or Fintech industries
  • Deep understanding of backend systems, scalability challenges, and distributed computing
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow senior engineering talent
  • Comfortable navigating dynamic environments and evolving requirements
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related technical field
  • Ability to lead and influence across functions and levels
  • Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software architecture
  • Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term technical vision
  • Collaborative mindset and a sense of ownership
  • Enthusiasm for building great products—and having fun doing it

Bonus:

  • Strong interest in finance and accounting
  • Prior experience with investment management applications
  • CFA charterholder or familiarity with financial certifications
  • Experience with high-performance JVM-based applications
  • Background in product engineering with a customer-first perspective
  • Expertise in designing cloud-native backend systems

Compensation and Benefits 

The cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $205,000-$242,500. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.

In addition to the base salary, 100% of Ridgeline employees can participate in our Company Stock Plan subject to the applicable Stock Option Agreement.
