Safety Supervisor II Transmission and Distribution

Summary:

Implement the RES Safety Management System (SMS) on distribution, substation, transmission, or energy storage projects in the US or Canada.

T & D Experience Required

 

Requirements:  

  • Promotes company safety culture through coaching, development, influence, and training.
  • Subject matter expert liaison for health and safety for the project team and client.
  • May prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly goals and tasks for other Safety Supervisors working on the project.
  • Develop and maintain site specific documentation and templates that include the Site Safety Plan, Site Rules, Emergency Response Plans, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Site Induction.
  • Lead safety related discussions at Plan of the Day (POD) Meetings, All Hands Meetings, Tailgate Meetings, Staff Meetings, and Client/Owner Monthly Meetings.
  • Deliver training on Safety Initiatives, Site Induction, Work Procedures, Work Instructions, SMS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect work areas to verify consistency with procedural, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate safety related incidents to Corporate Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) Department, across business unit, and the organization.
  • Conduct Incident Investigations to determine Root Cause and recommend appropriate Corrective Actions.
  • Develop Incident Reports to support findings from Incident Investigations.
  • Assist HSQE Department in the development of “Safety Alerts” related to incident to help create awareness across the business unit and organization.
  • Drives implementation of proposed Corrective Actions to completion.
  • Implement Corporate Drug and Alcohol Testing Procedure.
  • Maintain incident data and safety metrics to compile reports.
  • Facilitate audits and inspections by third parties and regulatory agencies.
  • Safely operate company vehicle to drive to various site locations.
  • Assist in development of Risk Assessments and Work Instructions.
  • Procure, distribute, and maintain safety related tools and equipment for the project.
  • Performs any other job-related duties/functions requested by the Senior Safety Supervisor and/or HSQE Department.
  • Present, support, and lead-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
  • Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
  • Adheres to and ensures all site team members understand standard operating procedures.
  • Leads and supports the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.
  • Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations.
  • ANSI/DOT/EPA/OSHA Regulations and Standards.
  • Fall Prevention/Climbing/Rescue Training (preferred).
  • Heavy Construction and Industrial.

Safety:

  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
  • Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
  • Receives job and task specific training prior to work commencing.
  • Follows technical, quality and safety systems in place and determines appropriate action.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school/GED and at least 1 year construction experience required.
  • Associates Degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
  • 5 or more years of Construction Industry Safety experience preferred.
  • 3 or more years of Renewable Energy Safety Experience preferred.
  • Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
  • FA/CPR/AED preferred.
  • CHST/CUSP/OHST/NCSO Certification preferred.
  • ASP/GSP/SMS/CSP/CRSP preferred.
  • OSHA 30/510 Certification required.
  • OSHA 500 Certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Domestic and International travel 76-100% required.

 

Anticipated base salary range:  $89,000 - $105,000

Premium Daily Per Diem paid for food, lodging, rotational travel

 

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
