Summary:
The Data Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing tools that enhance the team’s data analytics capability and efficiency to support PV Projects from early design phase through commissioning and testing. The efforts of this role will enable data-driven decisions to improve engineering excellence. This role is highly cross-functional and requires ability to work in a dynamic, time sensitive team environment.
Requirements:
- Develops and standardizes automation solutions for recurring Solar Engineering tasks that involve time-consuming or complex data analyses and/or processes.
- Establishes means to benchmark actual PV system performance against contractual KPIs.
- Develops automated reports to communicate project performance to stakeholders.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners to acquire, store and maintain data.
- Automates data mining processes from internal and external APIs.
- Manages data pipelines to ensure adaptability/scalability.
- Implements data quality program to ensure data analysis and reporting is accurate.
- Establishes data, and reporting governance, including roles and responsibilities, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.
- Completes data analysis requests from site managers, owners, vendors, or other key stakeholders.
- Presents data analysis results and recommendations to both internal and external clients.
- Supports project commissioning and testing periods, which includes extended working hours including evenings and weekends.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

Qualifications:
- Highschool/GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, or relevant field preferred.
- 3 or more years of data analytics or relevant field required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally 5 to 15% required.
- Proficiency in python programming language and relevant libraries scientific stack (Panda, NumPy, SciPy, etc.)
- Experience with the Azure ecosystem (blob storage, tables, durable functions, batch).
- Experience with databases, SQL and efficient handling of large datasets.
- Prior experience in the energy sector, PV solar technology preferred.
- Knowledge of PV solar resource, performance modeling and testing including experience with tools such as PVsyst, System Advisor Model (SAM) software tools preferred.
- Strong mathematical and statistical background.
- Data analytics experience with visualization tools.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Simplifies and summarizes complex topics for non-technical audiences.
- Translates non-technical stakeholder needs into technical solutions.
- Software development exposure (exception handling, test coverage, environment management, git source control, REST API protocol).
- Functional competencies include system thinking, attention to detail, communication, continuous improvement and learning on the fly.
Anticipated base salary range: $94,000 - $110,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
