A company is looking for a Toponymy Analyst - Geographic Names and Mapping.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide the formal naming process for geographic features across the United States
• Conduct historical and geospatial research to prepare case materials for naming proposals
• Assess spatial data and provide documentation ensuring accuracy and transparency in naming decisions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, History, Anthropology, or a related field
• 4-8 years of relevant experience in geography, GIS, historical research, or intergovernmental policy
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth, and federal geospatial datasets
• Experience producing clear, policy-aligned documentation and case briefs
• Ability to engage diplomatically with diverse stakeholders on sensitive naming issues
