Job Title: Part-Time Grant Writer (20-25 hours)

Location: Remote

Compensation: $30,000–$40,000 annually (Part-Time; Benefits Eligible)

SalivaDirect, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that develops saliva-based diagnostic tests for infectious and chronic diseases and ideates novel deployment mechanisms for these tests to increase access. Our work contributes to public health outcomes through accessible diagnostics, collaborative research, and community-based programs.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Part-Time Grant Writer to identify and pursue funding opportunities that support SalivaDirect’s research and programmatic goals. This individual will lead the writing and coordination of grant proposals, especially those focused on scientific research, public health programming, and diagnostics-related initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in grant writing within the medical or healthcare nonprofit sector and demonstrate exceptional internal and external communication skills.

This is a remote position with flexible hours, offering benefits (medical, vision, health) and a competitive part-time salary.

Key Responsibilities
• Research, identify, and evaluate public and private funding opportunities aligned with SalivaDirect’s mission.
• Write compelling grant proposals for research projects, programmatic initiatives, and operational funding.
• Collaborate with internal team members to align grant narratives with strategic organizational needs.
• Communicate effectively with external stakeholders including funders, partners, and collaborators to support the development and submission of grant proposals.
• Track grant deliverables and support internal reporting and evaluation processes.
• Maintain a grants calendar, including submission deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal timelines.
• Assist in preparing materials for funders, including LOIs, proposal narratives, budgets, and supplemental documents.
• Contribute to the measurement and communication of outcomes related to grant-funded programs.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Communications, Business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of professional grant writing experience, with a strong portfolio of awarded proposals in the medical or scientific nonprofit sector.
• Proven experience securing research-based and programmatic grants from government agencies, foundations, and/or corporate funders.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working cross-functionally across departments and with external partners or funders.
• Solid understanding of scientific or public health language, or ability to learn technical material quickly.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
• Proficiency with tools like Google Suite/Teams, Zoom, Slack, ClickUp, and other collaboration platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with NIH, CDC, or foundation funding mechanisms related to diagnostics, epidemiology, or public health.
• Experience managing grant reporting, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Knowledge of health equity, access to care, or laboratory-based research environments.
• A demonstrated commitment to incorporating diverse perspectives and inclusive practices in your work.
