Michigan Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Remote Inpatient Coder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Extracts, reviews, and analyzes clinical information to assign appropriate ICD-10 codes for hospital billing and compliance
  • Reviews medical records to accurately assign diagnoses and procedure codes, ensuring correct MS-DRG or APR-DRG assignment
  • Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Specialists to enhance documentation for accurate coding and compliance
Required Qualifications
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent facility coding experience; three (3) years for per diem candidates
  • High School Diploma/GED; Associate Degree in Health Information Technology/Management preferred
  • Must pass departmental testing for typing, analytical skills, and coding accuracy
  • Experience in a major academic medical center and familiarity with ICD-10-CM/PCS preferred
