serving patients worldwide. The Manager, Data Management & Operations will bring data management experience and technical skills to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of commercial data. The Data Management and Operations function will set up proactive data quality checks and act as data stewards, focused on the day-to-day data operations & management tasks. This work will require collaboration with many internal and external partners, including other data teams, Analytics & Insights, IS, Medical, Field Analytics and Operations, and other Commercial Teams. The individual has responsibility for integrating multiple data sources, and running analyses based on the consolidated data. A successful candidate will have strong technical abilities with Excel, Informatica, Power Bi, SQL, R, and/or Python. They will be able to clean raw data files, merge and join tables, and run statistical queries and summarize the data. The Manager, Data Management & Operations reports into the Director, Data Strategy and Management (within US Business Operations).
The position is part of Business Operations and will work with external and internal data management and information systems in support of the US organization. The role will be closely aligned to the US Commercial IS team to ingest data, maintain and enhance data quality, and structure the data for business consumption and commercial systems management. The ability to independently manage multiple deliverables and shifting priorities with strong skills in project management, collaboration, decision making, presentation, and communication will be key to success.
Success will be determined by the individual’s ability to demonstrate exceptional communication, planning, strategy, program management, and organizational skills, with the ability to successfully drive multiple concurrent initiatives.
Data Management (Internal And External)
Collaborate with commercial, brand, and other functional areas to identify data sources needed to support brands, enable reporting on key metrics and inform business decisions
Develop SOP’s and systems to ensure that reporting, storage, and handling of data sources meet compliance requirements
Oversees maintenance of business rules and Data Quality Management activities to align with up/downstream data needs/changes
Ensures operational compliance by implementing controls in organizational systems and processes
Performs proactive and ad-hoc data quality management checks to ensure data flows are fit for purpose and delivering accurate data
Maintains list of data restrictions and compliance considerations
Data Integration & Analysis
Partner with IS engineering teams to ingest, standardize, and store data across all data feeds (internal and third party)
Execute on request management processes (system) to prioritize and respond to data inquiries in alignment with business needs
Field Analytics and Operations / Analytics and Insights Support
Understanding of Activity Based data from systems such as Veeva CRM, Pharmaceutical Prescription (Rx) data and Specialty Pharmacy data to help support analytic teams
Understanding of Power BI to assist in creating Dashboards for cross-functional teams
Ability to use SQL, Python, etc. to work with cross-functional teams to accurately apply business rules to create and pull data cohorts and segments
Master Data Management / Governance
Institutionalize best practices for data usage across all brands and commercial projects
Ensure that data collected internally and externally meets quality standards. Improve and enhance data quality checks
Execute the business needs and requirements for master data management related to customer profiles, product hierarchy, territory alignments / mappings etc.
Manage data governance processes focusing on quality, consistency, usability, and availability of customer, product, territory alignments, etc. to the business and downstream systems
Vendor Management experience
Manage multiple projects and deliver consistently to the expectations of different stakeholders
Build strong partnerships and relationships, across the organization and externally, that lead to the highest levels of collaboration and effectiveness
Demonstrate the ability to influence multiple stakeholders to ensure a high-level of team involvement in key business decisions while working effectively with business partners
Work with Business Teams to understand the KPIs and Key Metrics and work with the IS team to build out the Business Ready Layers within the Jazz IS infrastructure
Utilizing Technical / Coding Skills to help pull data from Business Ready Layers (BRLs) to support cross-functional teams to drive insights
Leverage tools such as Informatica to create data flow and cohort creations
Create visualizations and automated workstreams using Power BI to help cross functional teams create the insights and story for sales and marketing leadership teams
Experience with commercial pharmaceutical systems and platforms, business analytics solutions, data warehouse and reporting, and master data management
~ Strong commercial business and technology acumen
~ Excellent communication, facilitation, influence, change management and consensus building skills
~ Experience within the Oncology, Sleep, and Epilepsy markets are a plus
~ Data Management and Governance experience required
~ Meticulous, highly organized, and self-directed approach to work, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize competing tasks in time-constrained situations
~ Experience documenting and owning business processes
~ Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Power BI, Informatica, Veeva, and MDM is a plus.
~ 6+ years in sales analytics, operations, and/or commercial IT, preferably in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
~ Experience in agile project management (leveraging tools such as Zendesk, Jira, etc.)
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in science, math, or computer science or relevant industry experience
