Department: COM | Peds LINK Department’s Website: Summary of Job Duties: *This is a Part-Time Position* The Early Learning Inclusion Specialist/Linking and Increasing Neurodevelopmental Knowledge (LINK) Mentor will act as a developmental disability specialist and mentor for collaborators, like Project PLAY and BehaviorHelp staff, including mental health consultants, early childcare providers, educators, and related stakeholders. This role will focus on supporting the integration, understanding, and care of children with developmental disabilities in early childhood settings. To fulfil this role, the Early Learning Inclusion Specialist/LINK Mentor needs to have a thorough knowledge of child development, symptoms of developmental disabilities, and evidence-based support strategies. Additionally, this person should have the ability to train stakeholders in developmental disability-related content. Knowledge should include understanding the identification and symptoms of developmental disabilities and support needs. The Early Learning Inclusion Specialist/LINK Mentor will provide consultation, training, and direct services as needed. This position requires travel within the state and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to promote best practices in supporting young children with developmental differences. Additionally, this position will participate in weekly staffing meetings and other regularly scheduled team meetings. Qualifications: Master’s degree in an allied health or other pediatric development-related field, e.g., speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, or similar, plus two (2) years of years of experience in the areas of early childhood development, pediatric disorders, and intervention strategies required. Must be licensed or eligible to practice speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, or a related field in the state of Arkansas. This position may require travel to locations within the region and maintaining flexible hours to meet the needs of Project PLAY consultants, early childhood educators, and childcare programs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge and experience in the areas of child development and disorders; Knowledge of state and federal laws for early childhood special education (i.e. IDEA Parts B and C) Must have a valid driver’s license Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines; Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Package (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook); internet; Training and public speaking skills; Strong written and verbal skills. Additional Information: Responsibilities: Provide expert guidance and recommendations to mental health consultants, early childhood providers, and families to support children with developmental disabilities in educational and childcare settings. Consultation will primarily be about developmental disability in young children, birth to five, who may be at risk of suspension and/or expulsion from a childcare or early education program. Work will include conducting environmental assessments, providing recommendations, offering resources, and consulting with team members. If children have been identified as having symptoms of a developmental disability, the LINK Mentorship Team Lead will work with the referring team members to identify gaps in services or potential support needs. Adhere to program privacy and confidentiality standards and demonstrate ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in all activities involving individuals of diverse backgrounds. The position must become familiar with the program implementation manual and adhere to the policies and procedures Participate in training modules, regularly scheduled statewide meetings, supervisory meetings and observations, and work collaboratively with community agencies. Provide training on topics regarding early childhood and developmental disabilities through workshops, community presentations, and consultant training opportunities. Provide required paperwork and reports, including weekly logs of project-related activities, within the required timeframe outlined in the project protocol. Perform other duties as assigned.
