The Opportunity…
We are seeking a highly collaborative and service-oriented Contractor Specialist to serve as a primary relationship manager for GRID’s network of renewable energy contractors. In this role, you’ll act as the key liaison between contractors and project stakeholders, ensuring clear, consistent communication and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
• Contractor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with assigned contractors. Serve as their day-to-day point of contact throughout project execution.
• Cross-Team Coordination: Act as a communication bridge between contractors and GRID’s internal teams (project management, training, payroll, etc.), as well as with external program partners.
• Portal & Process Support: Provide hands-on guidance to contractors in using GRID’s contractor portal and systems for project documentation, updates, and invoicing.
• Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to project progress, portal access, payment delays, or document submission. Escalate complex cases as needed.
• Administrative Tracking: Maintain accurate internal records of contractor communications, documentation follow-ups, and any support needs provided.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to tools, templates, or workflows that make the contractor experience smoother and more efficient.
• Identifying support needs: Identifying support needs for contractors such as need for training, access to capital, procurement, ect and connecting contractors with services and resources.
What you need to bring to this role…
• Customer Service Mindset: Approach contractor relationships with empathy, accountability, and professionalism-creating a supportive and responsive experience for our contractors.
• Relationship-Driven Experience: Experience in account management, partner relations, customer success, or contractor support-especially in solar, construction, or organizational nonprofits.
• Communication Excellence: Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly across roles, backgrounds, and technical fluency levels.
• Organizational Strength: Comfort facilitating multiple relationships and touchpoints with a strong ability to prioritize, track, and follow through.
• Adaptability: Can Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to adjust to changing priorities, work environments, and responsibilities. Works well in dynamic teams and contributes positively during times of transition.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRMs, project portals, shared drives, and Microsoft Office Suite tools. Ability to learn new platforms quickly and teach others.
• Empathy & Accountability: A passion for helping others succeed, balanced with the ability to hold contractors accountable to program requirements tactfully.
It would be great if you also had…
• Experience supporting subcontractors or vendors in clean energy or workforce development programs.
• Familiarity with construction-based project management, including timelines, documentation workflows, or incentive programs.
• Experience with Salesforce
• Bilingual/Bi-literate (Spanish strongly preferred).
• Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($65k- $75k annually), plus the benefits listed below.

Pay Range: $65,000 – $75,000 per year
