Certified General Surgery Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for a General Surgery Coder, Provider Practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Review medical documentation and assign appropriate codes (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT)
• Support technical and professional services in clinics and Ambulatory Surgery Centers
• Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required
• Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology preferred
• Successful coursework in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes preferred
• Relevant certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CCS required
• Certification must be obtained within one year if not certified at hire
