Business Intelligence Engineer III

About the position

The Business Intelligence Engineer III role at Chewy involves designing, developing, implementing, testing, documenting, and operating large-scale data models and BI solutions for analytics and deep learning. This position focuses on creating robust data ingestion routines, providing online reporting and analysis, and translating business requirements into scalable solutions within the overall data architecture.

Responsibilities
• Implement data ingestion routines both real-time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes.

• Provide online reporting and analysis using business intelligence tools and a logical abstraction layer against large, multi-dimensional datasets and multiple sources.
,
• Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture.
,
• Produce comprehensive, usable data set documentation, metadata, BI reports, dashboards, and insights.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
,
• 5 years of experience in relevant fields, including 2 years in SQL and data modeling.
,
• Experience building automated data warehousing environments for production reports or tables.
,
• Experience with Redshift, Snowflake DWH’s, and S3 or similar data lakes.
,
• Proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, Quicksight or similar.
,
• Experience building self-serve BI solutions, canned reports, and enterprise-level BI solutions.
,
• Data modeling experience in large data warehousing and data lake environments.
,
• Proficiency in Python/R or similar coding languages.
,
• Ability to draw insights from data and communicate them clearly to partners and senior management.
,
• Understanding of data management fundamentals and data storage principles.
,
• Experience with BI tools for ETL, including Airflow.
