At PROCEPT BioRobotics you will be part of a team to work on a surgical robot that combines real time data, multi-dimensional imaging, and robotics to remove prostate tissue.


What Your Day-To-Day Will Involve:
  • As PROCEPT BioRobotics continues to expand, the Design quality Assurance group requires a Reliability Engineer to work on the ongoing reliability activities. You will work with cross functional teams on reliability projects.
  • The Reliability Engineer is responsible for working with product development and sustaining teams to ensure PROCEPT BioRobotics is developing highly reliable products through the application of reliability tools (e.g., Weibull Analysis, Failure Mode Effects & Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Structured problem solving, Reliability modeling, Reliability predictions, Reliability testing, etc.).


The Qualifications We Need You to Possess
  • Evaluate and demonstrate the reliability of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components within a complex medical robotics system, while coordinating cross-functional activities as part of the overall reliability strategy.
  • Perform reliability prediction analyses using established industry standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, Telcordia, and FIDES.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, QA, and Manufacturing to ensure design enhancements align with established reliability objectives.
  • Engage in Design Reviews, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and CAPA processes to proactively address and mitigate reliability risks.
  • Clearly document technical findings and effectively communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support product release qualifications by validating reliability performance and driving continuous improvements based on test outcomes and field data.
  • Define reliability requirements and develop new test specifications, methodologies, and coverage strategies to ensure the reliability of both current and next-generation products.
  • Design, execute, document, and release reliability test protocols and reports, ensuring detailed tracking and status updates of all activities.
  • Drive innovation in reliability test methodologies to accelerate failure detection and enhance the quality of test data collection.
  • Plan and conduct Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) and Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) to assess product design robustness.
  • Develop and implement Production Reliability Test (PRT) strategies to validate that products meet field-level performance requirements.
  • Perform data analysis using techniques such as Weibull analysis, life data modeling, and reliability growth analysis to inform design and test improvements.
  • Design and build custom test fixtures and automated setups for reliability testing at the system, subsystem, and component levels.
  • Maintain automated testing frameworks using Python and C++ to perform testing.
  • Tackle complex reliability challenges using strong problem-solving skills and structured methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone diagrams, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Perform life data analysis, reliability prediction, and test data analysis using tools such as Weibull software and Minitab.


The Qualifications We Would Like You to Possess
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-year relevant experience or master’s degree with 1-year relevant experience in Mechanical, Biomedical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Learn and execute statistical processes and techniques such as Prediction and Weibull analysis
  • Capable of performing HALT and HASS testing methodologies.
  • Capable of understanding mechanical stress tests, including shock, drop, vibration, and environmental testing.
  • Involved in risk management activities such as Fault Tree Analysis, Design FMEA, and Process FMEA.
  • Effective in a team environment and able to achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  •  ASQ CQE, or CRE certification preferred
  •  Knowledge of industry test Standards (e.g., ASTM, IEEE, IEC, etc.)
  •  Background in electromechanical and software devices 
  • Basic machine tool and manufacturing experience a plus
  •  Capable of authoring technical papers for IEEE publication.

Work Authorization Status: Citizen / Permanent Resident

 

For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $110,000-118,000 per year.

Plus, eligibility for an annual bonus and equity/RSUs

PAY RANGE TRANSPARENCY

Procept is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role represents a base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Procept utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

We’ll provide you training for, and ask you to maintain trained status for, and comply with, all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance. We would also ask you to understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality & EHS policies.
