POSITION SUMMARY:

The Center Manager manages the day-to-day clinic operations and supervises the paraprofessional staff at the health center site. Monitors the facility and oversees the health center support staff in a way that ensures the effective delivery of high-quality services in a patient-centered environment. Keeps the General Manager closely informed about the delivery of services at the health center.  In so doing the Center Manager helps the organization fulfill its mission to provide the health care and information people need to plan their families and their futures.  This work will contribute positively to the overall patient experience.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1. Creates and maintains a health center environment that is characterized by excellence, privacy and respect for the patient, their health and dignity.

 

2. Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates health center support staff to ensure efficient health center operations and maintain an effective staffing structure that supports high-quality healthcare delivery. 

 

3. Ensures that a clean, professional, and orderly health center environment is maintained.

 

4. Ensures that the health center maintains an adequate inventory of all supplies needed for the delivery of patient services.

 

5. Ensures that cash receipts are handled and recorded accurately, deposits are made, and all related reports and documentation are forwarded to the Accounting Department within the specified time frame.

 

6. Documents patient information in the electronic health records (EHR) in a complete and accurate manner, while also ensuring effective use of EHR by all health center support staff.

 

7. Complies and enforces the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as amended to ensure the privacy of protected health information (PHI / ePHI) in the execution of all job duties.  Takes immediate action when a potential breach has occurred.

 

8. Develops and maintains a close working relationship with the Clinicians to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality medical care at the health center site.

 

9. Works collaboratively with the General Manager, as well as the Senior Director of Clinical Services and Director of Patient Access & Experience, to promote clinical services to the community and mobilizes the health center support staff to do the same.

 

10. Continuously develops an effective schedule of health center hours (within financial limitations) to be approved by the General Manager.

 

11. Monitors expenses and controls cost so that the health center operates within the financial parameters laid out in the annual budget.

 

12. Keeps current with all protocols and ensures that these are followed by the health care delivery support staff at the health center site.

 

13. Keeps current with sexual and reproductive health information, clinical practices, and medical procedures, and ensures timely communication of this information to health center support staff.

 

14. Keeps the General Manager well informed regarding the needs of the clients served at the health center.

 

15. Keeps the General Manager well informed regarding the needs of the health center support staff who work at the health center site.

 

16. Continuously monitors and informs the General Manager and the Senior Director of Clinical Services on clinician performance and the effectiveness of clinical services.

 

17. Makes recommendations to the General Manager regarding practices that might enhance the delivery of services at the health center site.

 

18. Works cooperatively to ensure that all Continuous Quality Improvement measures (including but not limited to QA, RM, CLIA, OSHA, PPFA and DSHS regulations) are followed at the health center site.

 

19. Assists the General Manager in implementing and analyzing patient satisfaction measures.

 

20. Leads health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity.

 

21. Works closely with the General Manager to generate reports (for internal and external purpose) that measure the productivity and fiscal solvency at the health center site.

 

22. Identifies and participates in activities that increase productivity and reduce cost.

 

23. Leads health center efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals.

 

24. Provides input to the General Manager regarding the annual budget as it relates to the health center site.

 

25. Holds all health center support staff accountable to specific measurable customer service standards (e.g., through annual performance monitoring and implementing corrective action plans when customer service expectations are not being met).

 

26. Keeps current with all health center defense and security procedures to ensure that those procedures are followed at the health center site.

 

27. Attends meetings and serves on committees as assigned.

 

28. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

29. Complies with the House Rules, which are a required part of the organization’s orientation, training and performance standards.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:  RN or LVN license is preferred.  However, an experienced individual with a HS / GED or equivalent who has at least three (3) years successful experience in direct management &/or supervision of a team of medical paraprofessionals in a health care center setting may serve in lieu of a RN / LVN license.

 

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in direct management &/or supervision of a team of medical paraprofessionals in a health care center setting is required.  Experience in family planning, women’s health, or sexual and reproductive health is highly preferred. Electronic health records (EHR) experience is strongly preferred.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

-  Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize and plan multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

-  Demonstrate a strong, personal commitment to quality.

-  Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

-  Fully functional in general computer use and Microsoft Office.

-  Ability to achieve “expert level” use of the electronic health records (EHR) system to train others.

-  Ability to effectively maintain complete and accurate electronic health records (EHR) is required.

-  Access to reliable, personal transportation.

-  Sensitive and competent regarding issues of multiculturalism.

-  Comfortable with issues of sexual and reproductive health.

-  Able and willing to work for an organization that supports a patient’s right to make personal decisions regarding health care including their right to choose what option is best for them if faced with an unintended pregnancy.

-  Demonstrates a strong, personal commitment to the organization position on customer service, internally and externally, for all clients, all services and all departments.
