Job purpose
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing tasks supporting Quality Control activities in a highly regulated environment and in accordance with established procedures. Perform molecular techniques such as PCR, NGS, DNA quantification, and agarose gel analysis. This position will report directly to the laboratory QC Senior Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform highly complex NGS testing according to established procedures (NGS library preparation and sequencing).
· Raw material and finished good inspection and release.
· Analyze and record test or inspection data. Flag any assay issues or out-of-specification results observed.
· Identify, report, and troubleshoot procedural deviations, nonconformances and out of specification results.
· Respond with appropriate investigation and corrective / preventive actions as needed.
· Maintain general lab systems. This includes performing daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed lab cleaning, equipment maintenance and inventory.
· Contribute to, review, edit and write any Quality Management system documentation as needed.
· Collaborate with equipment coordinator to aid in troubleshooting of equipment problems and providing immediate notification to QC supervisor in the event of any malfunctions.
· Communicate intra-departmentally and with other departments to solve technical issues.
· Comply with established environmental health and safety procedures and policies.
· Adhere to all OSHA Safety and FDA Regulatory standards.
· Utilize job knowledge, judgement, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality.
· Lead by example to foster company culture and achieve company goals.
Qualifications
Education: B.S in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ wet lab experience.
Preferred: Hands-on experience in preparing NGS libraries, running NGS instruments and processing NGS data is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Excellent molecular biology skills are required.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Excellent recordkeeping and attention to detail.
· Self-motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
· Work productively in group situations as well as independently.
· Proficient with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
· Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices.
Working Conditions
This position is conducted both in a standard lab and office environment. Must be able to perform work while sitting or standing for long periods of time. Position may require repetitive movements.
