Salary: $100,000-120,000 annually

Job Description

SUMMARY

The Director of Social Work oversees and directs the daily operations of social services programs, aiming to provide optimal support services to communities and families living with Type 1 Diabetes. Here at Kyler Cares, the Director of Social Work will serve as the front-facing contact to families participating in several core Programs related to diabetes management and access to healthcare. In addition, this position will also lead a future collaborative initiative with several university’s affiliated social work programs as an extension of support for students and families attending NYC Public Schools. The ideal candidate must have the ability to build out our internal systems for social support (technology, transposition, housing, etc.) while collaborating with external social workers at partner organizations in the fields of medical and human and health services. The Director of Social Work must demonstrate expertise in social work management, overseeing strategic initiatives, corporate governance, resource allocation, and capacity building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead on planning, development, and management of programs that address the social, emotional, and economic needs of individuals and families living with diabetes;
  • Responsible for building the system roadmap for case management support;
  • Plan goals and strategic priorities for case management support in collaboration with the leadership team;
  • Manage all university-affiliated social work programs, directing all advanced-degree student engagement;
  • Perform community outreach and networking to build collaborative relationships with clinics, hospital systems, schools, and other related organizations;
  • Ensure all necessary documentation required for the Social Services Department are complete and submitted in a timely fashion;
  • Work with the clinics, hospital systems, schools, and other related organizations to develop programs related to social work and health;
  • Plan goals and strategic priorities for case management support, in collaboration with the leadership team;
  • Evaluate and prepare monthly reports on the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as necessary.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of three years of post-master's senior management and supervisory experience supporting children with medical and mental health needs.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field (such as Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology);
  • Graduate of a social work program approved by the Council on Social Work Education;
  • Minimum one year experience in a health care or non-profit sectors;
  • Ability to lead a team effectively and cultivate collaborative relationships across different agencies;
  • Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively;
  • Proven track record in program development and execution.
  • Experience in advocacy and policy, healthcare work a plus;
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language;
  • Must have knowledge of State and Federal guidelines;
  • Extremely well organized and detail oriented.

To perform the job, the employee is frequently required to talk and listen on the telephone, and verbally communicate in person with individuals and groups. The position requires frequent keyboarding. The incumbent may occasionally reach with hands and arms and carry materials weighing up to 20 lbs. The work is typically performed in a home office environment. Travel 5 - 6 times a year, including overnight travel, may be required.
