Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Manager, Sales Development, you are responsible for leading and evolving Nearmap’s Business Development team to drive high-quality inbound and outbound pipeline generation. You will develop and execute scalable strategies, policies, and processes that align with broader sales objectives and directly contribute to the company’s growth. This role requires strong commercial acumen, operational discipline, and a hands-on leadership approach to deliver consistent results across key market segments. Your leadership will influence both short-term sales performance and medium- to long-term strategic outcomes.

In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Enablement, and Product teams to ensure alignment on campaign strategy, lead quality, and market positioning. You will also engage with senior-level prospects and stakeholders, helping to shape the customer experience from the first point of contact. As a key member of the sales leadership team, you are expected to make sound decisions that impact multiple functional areas and contribute to company-wide initiatives, while fostering a high-performance, values-driven team culture.

Sales Development Strategy & Execution

  • Define and drive strategies that align with corporate goals and sales targets.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures that support sales development growth.
  • Analyze and optimize the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and impact of outbound sales campaigns.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives including product, marketing, and campaign strategy.
  • Ensure successful handoff and integration of new leads and customers into the sales pipeline.

Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead/ coach high-performing outbound / inbound Sales Development team across multiple verticals.
  • Set clear goals, KPIs, and expectations, ensuring accountability and performance tracking.
  • Create scalable processes and cadences to maximize outbound engagement and prospect conversion.
  • Facilitate ongoing sales enablement, including monthly coaching and call reviews.
  • Mentor team leads and serve as a resource for resolving moderately complex operational issues.

Reporting, Forecasting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate reporting using Salesforce dashboards to guide pipeline forecasting and lead management.
  • Establish and oversee operational compliance within the sales development function.
  • Provide regular and insightful reporting to leadership, highlighting performance, risk, and opportunity areas.
  • Ensure transparency in data and decision-making across business units.

Organizational Leadership

  • Manage multiple functions or disciplines within the sales development team and influence adjacent teams.
  • Regularly interface with senior leadership to align objectives, resources, and timelines.
  • Persuade stakeholders across departments to support initiatives and process changes that drive efficiency.
  • Maintain accountability for the department budget and resources, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.

Qualifications

Key Requirements

  • 7+ years in business development or sales, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Prior success leading SDR/BDR teams in a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence strategic direction and implement operational change.
  • Advanced proficiency in Salesforce and sales tech stacks.
  • Deep understanding of sales metrics, forecasting, and performance optimization.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to coach reps on both transactional and complex sales motions.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and navigate ambiguity with confidence.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence; able to lead through influence.
  • High emotional intelligence with a coaching and developmental mindset.
  • Results-driven, data-informed, and highly organized.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business, sales, or marketing-related field preferred.
