Overall purpose:
For the commercial component, the incumbent will provide analysis of the regional ECOWAS grains and oilseeds market, with a particular focus on Palm Oil in Côte D'Ivoire. Forecasting supply and demand and bringing insights to the commercial team is a key deliverable in this role, alongside supporting both commercial and sustainability teams to drive regional objectives. For the sustainability component, the incumbent will support the implementation of LDC’s Palm Sustainability Policy in Africa, in close collaboration with the commercial team and the global palm sustainability team. This includes supplier No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE) due diligence and capacity support; EUDR compliance support, RSPO certification guidance, as well as decarbonization and regenerative agriculture programs going forward. The incumbent will also support regional palm sustainability initiatives around data analytics and reporting. Direct regional engagement to the suppliers and regional travel availability requested. High-level engagement with palm oil mill management and sustainability leaders, peers, governments, and industry association reps, as well as other key regional stakeholders.

Your profile:
• Bachelor’s degree in agricultural, engineering, agronomy, economics, or related field.
• 3 years professional experience in fields of sustainability, responsible sourcing and commodity commercialization (procurement/sales).
• Experience in the palm sector, sustainability data analytics, traceability, and exposure to trading, is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of African palm sustainability landscapes, key sustainability issues and opportunities.
• Knowledge in traceability and data management.
• Field experience on the agricultural sector is advantageous.
• Good knowledge of the logic of the relevant trading markets functioning.
• Strong market trends analysis and analytical skills.
• Very strong communication skills (verbal, written, and PowerPoint), in English.
• Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• French (fluent in both oral and written).
• English (fluent in both oral and written).
• Any other language is advantageous.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Power BI and supply chain traceability tools is ideal.
• Programming skills (R, Python…) are advantageous.
