Summary:
This role within the Public Policy External Affairs team is an integral part of a diverse government affairs group, operating across product areas and functions. Combining initiative, intellectual excellence, and strong organizational abilities, the ideal candidate will excel at managing deadlines, filing, projects, and initiatives, all while contributing to impactful policy strategies.
Public Policy Managers are responsible for monitoring and researching emerging public policy issues. They develop and execute campaign strategies tailored to both individual stakeholders and multi-stakeholder coalitions. These strategies include communications plans, third-party outreach, timelines, and performance evaluation metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the public policy team and external organizations to file documents, organize calls, and take comprehensive meeting notes.
- Draft and organize project deliverables efficiently.
- Apply prior project management expertise, particularly within policy or trade-focused environments.
- Organize, manage, and engage with US Public Policy external trade stakeholders.
- Foster engagement with policymakers, trade associations, industry partners, key opinion leaders, non-profits, and others to craft policy frameworks that promote private, safe, and responsible innovation.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Legal, Communications, Corporate, and Partnership teams, as well as global policy units, to develop policies that guide responsible product design and development.
- Monitor and analyze current and emerging public policy issues and track thought leaders in the space.
- Lead smaller advocacy campaigns independently or collaborate on managing larger campaigns, occasionally serving as the primary client lead.
- Develop and implement campaign strategies for individual stakeholders and multi-stakeholder coalitions, including communications plans, third-party outreach, timelines, and evaluation frameworks.
- Coordinate across internal teams, such as research, social media, creative, and media relations, to align their expertise with campaign objectives, ensuring seamless execution.
- Maintain open communication with clients to manage expectations while upholding the organization’s uncompromising standards for honesty and ethics, earning trust and confidence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience in public policy, particularly within the DC area.
- Knowledge of internet technologies, security, privacy, integrity, safety, content moderation, and related policy environments.
- Strong background in government relations and policy development.
- Demonstrated expertise in policy stakeholder engagement.
- Proven success in executing cross-functional policy campaigns domestically and/or internationally.
- 5+ years of policy experience, with exceptional organizational and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with industry trade associations.
