KIPP NYC is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in the Bronx.  Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college, and beyond – and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students.  Today, our New York City network comprises five elementary schools, five middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Through College, a comprehensive support program for our alumni.  KIPP NYC currently serves more than 6000 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 700, and has a budget of over $98M. At full growth, we will serve nearly 6300 students and alumni.

Position Overview

The KIPP NYC Teaching and Learning Internship is designed for rising juniors or seniors of all majors interested in hands-on experience in education reform and non-profit management. Interns will join the Teaching & Learning and Student Support Services Team to provide logistics and administrative support throughout the summer. The position will report to the Regional Director of Academic Planning and Operations.

The internship will take place from June 23rd to August 15th, 2025.

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State*
• Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
• A passion for the mission of KIPP NYC and commitment to being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven organizational culture, with an interest in raising the achievement level of historically underserved children
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency and under pressure
• Strong computer skills are a plus, including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within established timeframes and demonstrate flexibility
• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, self-control, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.

This is a hourly position for 8-10 weeks during Summer 2025. Compensation for this position is $17-22/hour.

This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC. You must notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.
