We are looking for a Legal Cashier to join us at INSHUR! We’re based in sunny Brighton ☀️ (sea 🌊, chips 🍟, and seagulls 🕊️ included), and our company embraces a hybrid working model, allowing you to thrive in both collaborative office settings and the comfort of your own home 🏠. You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with your colleagues at our Brighton office at least once a week, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.

Supported by (and reporting to) the Practice Manager, you'll be joining a friendly team of 6.

What you'll do

As the Legal Cashier you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the firm, maintaining compliance with SRA regulations, and supporting the efficient running of the legal practice. Your responsibilities will contribute to the firm’s day-to-day financial processes, helping to improve efficiency and uphold high compliance standards.

You’ll be working on:

  • Process and auto-reconcile Client and Office accounts in compliance with SRA and VAT regulations.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient handling of client receipts, payments, billing, supplier and nominal ledgers, and completion pack checks.
  • Oversee daily financial workflows, ensuring all processes are followed correctly.
  • Generate and manage financial and accounts reports as required.
  • Administer the online banking system and manage cash flow.
  • Ensure full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and advise the COFA on regulatory matters.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of client accounts to prevent breaches.
  • Prepare and manage monthly and annual financial reports for internal and external reporting.

We'd love to hear from you if you have

  • AAT or similar qualification preferred.
  • Experience handling daily accounting tasks, including purchase ledger, client account reconciliations, transfers, disbursements, recharges, expenses, and VAT.
  • Experience managing WIP, billing, and credit control.
  • Knowledge of cashflows, trial balances, management accounts, and report analysis (ideal but not essential).
  • Previous UK legal finance experience with an understanding of legal terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end and year-end processes.

What to expect from the process: 

Screen & Intro: 30-minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience.

First Interview: 45-60 minute video call with the Practice Manager and People team to delve into the role, including role and team fit questions.

Final Interview: An in person interview with the Head of Legal Practice and the Claims Director.
