About us:

Foodsmart is the leading telenutrition and foodcare solution, backed by a robust network of Registered Dietitians. Our platform is designed to foster healthier food choices, drive lasting behavior change, and deliver long-term health outcomes. Through our highly personalized, digital platform, we guide our 2.2 million members—including those in employer-sponsored health plans, regional and national Medicaid managed care organizations, Medicare Advantage plans, and commercial insurers—on a tailored journey to eating well while saving time and money.

Foodsmart seamlessly integrates dietary assessments and nutrition counseling with online food ordering and cost-effective meal planning for the entire family, optimizing ingredients both at home and on the go. We partner with national and regional retailers across the U.S., many of whom accept SNAP/EBT, making healthier food more accessible. Additionally, we assist members with SNAP enrollment and management, providing tangible access to nutritious food. In 2024, Foodsmart secured a $200 million investment from TPG’s Rise Fund, which supports entrepreneurs dedicated to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This investment will help us expand our reach, particularly to low-income workers who are disproportionately affected by diet-related diseases.

Hungry: We maintain a healthy growth mindset, seeking to overcome challenges with courage.

Joyful: We take joy in each other, our work, and the privilege of doing this work.

About the role:

Senior Director, Business Intelligence and Strategic Analytics

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Foodsmart is investing in the next phase of our data and analytics strategy—and we’re looking for a Senior Director, Business Intelligence and Strategic Analytics to lead this transformation and build a high-performing analytics and insights function. This leader will report to the CFO and work closely with the executive team to enable smarter, faster, and more data-driven decisions across the organization.

This is a business analytics role where the leader will own the analytics layer of the company: designing scalable reporting systems, leading our team of analysts and data scientists, driving insights that inform strategy and operations, and building a culture of data-driven decision-making across Foodsmart. The Data Engineering team, reporting to the CTO, will continue to own the company’s data infrastructure, pipelines, warehousing, and tooling architecture. This role will serve as a critical partner to engineering, but its primary focus is on business intelligence, reporting, and analytics.

You will:
  • Build and lead a centralized Business Intelligence function that partners across departments including Clinical Operations, Finance, Product, Strategy, and Client Development and Implementation Services.
  • Translate business needs into scalable data products, dashboards, and insight-generation tools to drive organizational performance.
  • Partner with senior leaders to surface actionable insights and guide data-driven decisions on key business priorities such as growth strategy, clinical efficiency, and client performance.
  • Lead strategic deep dives and ad hoc analysis to evaluate business performance, assess opportunities, and inform roadmap prioritization.
  • Own the BI toolset (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI), standardize definitions and KPIs, and lead the governance of company-wide reporting.
  • Direct a team of analysts and data scientists, prioritizing high-impact work that supports strategic initiatives, forecasting, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with FP&A to enhance forecasting capabilities and expand forward-looking decision support.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to align on requirements for data modeling and infrastructure that enable efficient analytics and reporting.
  • Establish a reporting framework that reduces manual reporting, enhances organizational alignment, and delivers timely insights to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in analytics, experimentation, and predictive modeling to optimize business outcomes.

You are:
  • A strategic and execution-oriented leader with experience building and scaling analytics functions in complex, data-rich environments.
  • Skilled in translating business problems into data solutions—and vice versa.
  • Comfortable partnering across functions, especially Finance, Clinical Programs, Operations, and Technology.
  • Adept at both leading high-level strategy and getting into the details to ensure quality and relevance.
  • A strong collaborator with technical and non-technical teams alike, capable of aligning business needs with data capabilities.

You have:
  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or healthcare economics roles, ideally with experience in healthcare or tech-enabled services.
  • Proven track record of building centralized BI functions that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience managing teams of analysts, data scientists, and BI developers, with a focus on impact and innovation.
  • Strong command of BI tools and frameworks (e.g., Looker, Tableau, dbt, SQL) and understanding of data governance best practices.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement, with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and impact.
  • Experience working alongside Data Engineering teams, with a clear understanding of role boundaries and collaboration points.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights that influence executive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate analytical findings into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities shift and cross-functional collaboration is key.
