Research Analyst, Executive Search

THE ROLE

Ferguson Partners is seeking a Research Analyst based in Chicago to support research needs for our Executive Search practice.  The Research Analyst is responsible for identifying executives and companies within targeted sectors in support of search assignments and business development initiatives. This role researches and identifies prospective candidates and sources through targeted company research, industry sources, relevant internal data.  The successful candidate will be able to analyze business information and organize multiple points of data into concise targeted information, summaries, or lists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform secondary research utilizing firm resources to compile market research, business intelligence, and current trends to support business development and search execution needs.
  • Develop client-facing materials for business development and search execution, including drafting candidate biographies.
  • Research companies, prepare target lists, and assist with candidate identification.
  • Develop a full understanding of the research needs of internal clients (members of the Executive Search practice) and effectively communicate findings and research methodologies.
  • Maintain the accuracy, quality and integrity of all search information in the Ferguson Partners proprietary database while adhering to local and global data quality standards.
  • Evaluate research resources, both current as well as possible new resources.
  • Manage relationships with external databases and online resources and liaise between the 3rd party and company employees.
  • Act as a knowledge champion for the firm by identifying market trends and research information effectively through various channels.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in professional services, administration, or a similar field.
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to manage a demanding research load, balance multiple tasks, and switch gears while maintaining priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) with proven writing and research skills.
  • Exhibits pride in work, has a sense of urgency and a relentless drive to follow through on projects.
  • Intellectually curious with a genuine interest in learning about people, business, and industries.
  • Skilled at finding innovative solutions in uncertain or unclear circumstances.
  • High level of professionalism, confidence, and clarity when dealing with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated judgment and ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters effectively.
  • Excellent team player and comfortable working independently as well.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn internal systems and databases.
  • Ability to work in Ferguson Partners’ Chicago office 3 days per week.
