Is this job for you?

As an Assistant Merchant, you will play a key role in supporting the Men’s, Women’s, and Non-Apparel businesses, ensuring seamless execution of merchandising strategies and operational processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, manage critical merchandising documents and systems, and contribute to the creation of seasonal assortments. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about product, data, and storytelling within a fast-paced retail environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Merchandising Operations & Documentation

    • Maintain and create merchandising documents (linelists, linesheets, change memos) in collaboration with merchants, ensuring accuracy for cross-functional teams.
    • Own and manage day-to-day system updates in NetSuite and create/manage linesheets in NuOrder for wholesale and internal partners.
    • Support the assortment creation process, assisting in building seasonal product lines based on trends and historical analysis.
    • Develop assortment tools and product boards to support the merchandising team and cross-functional partners.

    Business Analysis & Reporting

    • Prepare and pull necessary reports for Monday business meetings to analyze performance and identify key insights.
    • Assist in ad hoc analysis and reporting requests to support strategic decision-making.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Act as a key liaison between Merchandising and Design, Marketing, Planning, Wholesale, and other teams, ensuring smooth communication of relevant product information.
    • Attend and take detailed notes in weekly cross-functional meetings, including fit sessions, marketing discussions, and business reviews.

    Sample Management

    • Work closely with the Sample Management team to track, organize, and maintain product samples throughout their lifecycle.
    • Ensure all garment details are correct by inspecting samples and assisting in sample pulls for merchant team needs.
    • Maintain a well-organized sample storage area with weekly updates.
    • Work closely with the Visual Merchandising team to keep the HQ Mockstore/Showroom as a benchmark for in-store presentation standards.

What you’ll have:

    • 1-2 years of experience in merchandising, buying, planning, or a related field (internship experience included).
    • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical skills with experience in data management and reporting.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • Comfortable working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
    • Proficiency in Excel, NetSuite, and NuOrder is a plus.

A bit about us:

Founded in 2013 by Mike and Alex Faherty and Kerry Docherty, Faherty is a family-run lifestyle and apparel brand fueled by purpose and optimism. Our goal: to build a new American legacy by creating high-quality, sustainably minded, feel-good favorites that will bring you joy to wear.

We feel a deep responsibility to do things differently: to promise comfort without compromising quality. To hold ourselves to a higher standard with a lower environmental impact. To leave the world a better place than we found it.

We recognize the impact the fashion industry has on the world, and we’re dedicated to learning how to be better stewards of the planet. We believe the power of conversation and connection can make real change, and we’re committed to supporting people and organizations doing work that we believe in.

Our passionate leadership team comes from different backgrounds but share a singular goal: to deliver on our promise of comfort and craftsmanship. To work side-by-side in a collaborative, energetic, and creative environment every day, like the family we are.

We welcome everyone — and we mean everyone. We believe a diversity of viewpoints, experiences, and backgrounds only serve to make our team stronger, which is why we strongly encourage those from historically and systemically marginalized communities to apply: BIPOC, women, and people in the LGBTQIA+ community, to name a few. We strive to lead consciously, bravely, and inclusively — and to reflect those values in our work. We live by six key pillars:

Be The Best

Stay Authentic

Better Together

Spread Good Vibes

Deliver On Promises

Lead Consciously, Bravely, and Inclusively

Remain compassionate. Stay focused. Seek joy. Let’s make the world a better place.
