What’s commerce built for passion? It’s a fair question, especially since EQL is the first of its kind.

We're building commerce for brands that don't just have customers, they have fans. Where the passion that surrounds products is off the charts, but also means the experience has traditionally gone off the rails with lackluster experience—sites crashing, bad actors, empty carts. If you’ve ever tried to get your hands on a pair of Jordans, coveted handbags, Taylor Swift tickets, or a ticket to a footy final, you know what happens next.

Fans and bots rush the retailer’s site. The thing you thought you had in your cart disappears. You desperately click ‘next’, and after staring at a spinner for the longest time, you get forcibly logged out and end up back on the homepage. Five minutes later, you’ve got a pending charge on your credit card but nothing to show for it. Soon you’ll be turning to the resale market in desperation…

This is where EQL comes in. We’re on a mission to build the world’s first and fairest launch platform for both fans and retailers.

Our platform helps global brands and retailers maximize these high-intensity retail moments. We provide hype-scale infrastructure, bot and scammer detection and robust checkout management so that sites don’t crash, scammers are squeezed out, and REAL fans win. We do this using a bunch of extremely cool and innovative technologies, and we’re constantly iterating to improve the fan experience. We’ve raised capital from leading VCs and angel investors across the world who believe in our mission and who are as excited about solving this pain for our customers as we are.

What you’ll do
 

Deals, Partnerships & Opportunities

  • Close deals, key partnerships and strategic opportunities that open up revenue & larger business opportunities for EQL
  • Build & evolve a cohesive strategic partnership program, with attractive commercial incentives to incubate the EQL product across multiple categories of retail

Team Management, nurture & growth

  • Lead and guide our sales team; coach, develop, make promotion, hiring and pay decisions (including the development of Commission plans) for team members, ensuring that when EQL wins, our team does
  • Mentor and influence team members at the right times when dealing with live deal scenarios that impact deal success
  • Use your experience leading teams through periods of ambiguity and change, taking an experimental approach to gather data and information to make decisions where there is no pre-defined path

Strategic leadership and GTM execution

  • Develop, lead and implement a comprehensive end to end sales strategy to achieve company revenue targets and partnership milestones, whilst retaining flexibility to reshape strategies when required.
  • Establish and operate strong feedback loops between Sales and Product teams to ensure the right customer feedback reaches our teams when it needs to, creating the right balance of customer-led product direction

Forecasting, enablement and sales operations

  • Build, refine and evolve sales enablement, operations and team processes to ensure ways-of-working are optimised to achieve our revenue goals
  • Influence and guide Revenue Operations to create data that serves specific outcomes and tracks progress against objectives, simultaneously whilst establishing norms for Sales teams to understand the barometer for success
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance and Operations to develop accurate and reliable Sales forecasts that align closely to actual customer behaviour, adjusting for changes in pricing and packaging and usage-based revenue

Collaboration and cross-functional initiatives

  • Cultivate and foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams including Product, Marketing, Engineering and Operations to achieve broader revenue and business goals

Industry knowledge

  • Evolve your deep understanding of the Retail and Ecommerce industries, using intelligence from previous experience to influence how you position and help teams to sell the EQL product today

We believe you’ll succeed in this role if you have:
  • Experience building, leading and scaling software sales functions, coaching team members to high levels of performance, career growth and success
  • Experience spearheading revenue growth initiatives, driving additional revenue through structured, scalable GTM strategies
  • Experience closing high-value opportunities and managing strategic partnerships or partnership programs, that delivered on commercial goals through long-term, collaborative alliances
  • Experience working in Leadership Teams in start-up businesses, undergoing periods of high ambiguity, rapid scale and transformative change. You’re able to work with cross-functional leaders to align on broad organisational objectives and own your slice of success as part of those initiatives
  • Deep experience aligning Sales team with Customer Success, Marketing and Product functions to deliver on a cohesive GTM strategy and ensuring feedback loops are established to surface the right information, consistently
  • Strong understanding of Sales Enablement and Revenue Operations, and an understanding of how best to establish sales excellence and ways of working in small, distributed teams
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and optimising a tech stack for the sales and GTM teams (e.g. systems like HubSpot, Sales Navigator, Lead Enrichment tooling and other components)
  • Experience leading forecasting, budgeting and commission planning initiatives, working with Finance Leaders to develop forecast and budget plans that align to the broader goals of the business
  • Led initiatives where customer insights and data were at the core of decision-making, ensuring that the company not only hit revenue targets but also developed a better understanding of sales success
