Technical Advisor (Patents)

Direct Counsel is seeking a Technical Advisor to join the Life Sciences IP Group of a leading Am Law 100 firm in New York City. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex intellectual property matters in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and chemistry while collaborating with a top-tier legal team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced analysis of scientific literature, patents, and technologies related to life sciences IP.
  • Support patent litigation and pre-suit due diligence investigations in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and chemistry.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and experts to assess patent infringement and validity issues, including preparing detailed reports.
  • Assist with technical preparations for depositions and identify and engage key technical experts.
  • Handle additional related projects and ensure high-quality, cost-effective deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Physical/Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred).
  • Post-doctoral or industrial experience is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical analysis within biological, pharmaceutical, or chemical life sciences.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills, with expertise in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or chemistry.
  • Prior experience in a legal or professional services environment is a plus.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
