We are seeking a Senior Program Manager of Health, to support the growing needs of Edelman’s Public & Government Affairs. This role will provide day-to-day support to clients and account teams with a focus on health policy and public affairs within the healthcare industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical devices and medtech, hospitals and health services). While this position will primarily focus on the U.S. health landscape, there is an opportunity to work with other markets and regions. 


The Senior Program Manager is primarily responsible for creating the first-round deliverables and reports for clients, under the guidance of senior counsel and client leaders. Together with your team, you will support client needs with a variety of tasks including – policy research and analysis, issues monitoring, political risk assessments, stakeholder mapping and campaign strategy development. Senior Program Managers also support research and issues monitoring for new business and thought leadership development.


To be successful in this role will require a background knowledge of the US healthcare landscape, the health policy and regulatory environment, and a demonstrated ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable recommendations for clients. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will be expected to develop high-quality deliverables and effectively convey insights to both clients and internal teams. Additionally, this role requires strong collaboration and coordination skills to ensure projects remain on track and deliverables consistently meet—and exceed—client expectations.


Scope of Work
  • Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of an account workstream for health clients - anticipating challenges, troubleshooting problems, proposing solutions, monitoring developments in real time through research and networks, overseeing quality, and ensuring deadline and budget adherence.
  • Manage client deliverables in a timely fashion and provide updates to client leaders.
  • Conduct value add research and analysis for client proposals, strategies, approaches for existing and new clients.
  • Collaborate with staff on deliverables, helping to mentor and motivate team members by providing consistent support and feedback that helps drive efficiency.
  • Contribute to business growth by introducing clients to new capabilities, building a network of industry contacts, and participating in relevant professional organizations.


Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 6+ years demonstrated track record of success within public affairs working in government, NGOs, associations, or health related companies.  
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of US healthcare system and health policy environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with legislators, health regulatory agencies, patient advocacy group and healthcare related trade associations.
  • Proactive in nature, constantly curious with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrates a keen interest in and deep understanding of current political affairs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to manage client teams and effectively communicating through various mediums such as phone, email, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions.
  • Thrives in a team-based collaborative environment that focuses on outcomes and can identify and implement the necessary processes to achieve success on behalf of clients.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication writing and editing abilities, ensuring high-quality documents and content
  • Possesses a strong acumen in using Microsoft suite of software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams), capable of managing budgets and staffing projections, and effectively conveying ideas through presentations.
  • Digital literacy through the use of social and digital tools, channels, and platforms that drive public affairs activities with clients.


$80,000 - $115,000 a year

An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
